how is plants displayed

I have one very simple question about how are trees and plants in game displayed. My question is:

Is the displaying of polygons (of one particular plant or tree) in order (closer polygons are displayed first)? Or they are displayed as-is, unordered?

As is.

The depth buffer takes care of the order.
