Funny graphics problem

Post by Elcoo »

Hi there,
my friend has a very funny problem with TAspring. Everytime something is built, there are funny stripes all over the screen. The stripes seem to have their source in the building. The game runs at high frames, the only problem are the stripes. I tried everything(Super-Low Graphics and all...) but the stripes don't seem to get away.
My friend's running vista on a notebook with intel core 2 dou and ati-graphics.
I'm also using a notebook, but with xp,intel graphics and core dou. For me it works fine.
Thanks in advance, if someone had a tip!

Ps: We can't take screenshots, cause if we try it shows us the desktop!

This sounds like the Vista ATI drivers.

I had this before.

It will only happen on maps with geothermal vents.

It will only happen on ATI video cards.

If it's 128mb vram or less, it probably happens.

There's nothing in that image sheep.

It looks like green triangles with strange flashes and junk in it, usually to triangles and it bends and turns at weird angles, it seeks buildings and geothermal vents.

The Cause is building near a geo vent, which I believe is a particle issue on certain ATI cards, in my case, my old 128mb one from Wal-Mart.

Elcoo, hit F12 ingame, then go to C:\\program files\spring\screenshots\

and get the newest file from there, then upload it to photobucket or imageshack, and post a link to it.

Hi,

dunno if it's the same problem (sorry if it's not, I'll allow you to throw me rocks, and create another thread), but a friend of mine seems to have the same symptoms : when he builds something, colored stripes appear around the screen. Although he's not against abstract art, it's a bit disturbing.
See screenshot below :

More annoying, after a while all becomes grey like this, which is far less playable :

He usually runs the game in windowed mode but it does the same in fullscreen.

He's running Windows XP SP2 (not Vista..) on a laptop w/ a Turion 64 @1,6Ghz - 512 MB RAM and an ATI Mobility XPress 200M 128Mo - which I suspect causing the troubles ; but we already tried to update the drivers. He already runs the game in low-graphic mode btw.

The older version of Spring worked well on his comp, but we didn't play for some six months and he must have upgraded his drivers since then so it can come from them (yeah, I *really* do have a bad experience with ATI drivers  )
