s3o model problem

Post by [Krogoth86] »

Hi!

I wanted to do a little joke unit to try out the s3o format a bit and for a short spoof movie but now I'm stuck. After solving the usual beginner problems I now don't know what's wrong:

My problem is that the unit itself is fine in Upspring but not ingame. That is the unit shows up (i.e. I have given it a radius and so on) but the UV mapping has gone mad...

Here a screen from Upspring:

And ingame:

I don't know what's causing this. Well maybe one thing: Do s3o models have to be "closed" (you know - the same thing you need to have proper stencil shadows)? Because one part isn't and right now that's the only flaw I can think of...

Thanks in advance!

Spring loads all non-dds textures upside down. Just convert it to dds, or flip it vertically.

That is the most nonsensical UV map I think I have ever seen...

I agree - this is something only an auto-algorithm would produce...

It's about 4000 I think. Now don't argue with poly efficency this is just a 5-10 minute basic mesh with some subdivision thrown at...

Lol - I once thought of a mod just with toys like this so maybe I'll somewhen do a serious approach on such a duck... :-)

I did this after quitting googling for a good free model after ten minutes and only finding things like this:

I mean seriously - 25$ ???
And that was one of the cheaper versions... :P

BTW:
As the pure yellow texture didn't look good ingame I invested another minute or two and now it looks like this:

It may have its video debut this evening so stay tuned...
Oh yeah and
BEWARE OF THE ALLMIGHTY RUBERDUCK!!!!

That duck would rock as a gaia unit, randomly wandering around the map...
