TASClient logon problems

i really dont like springlobby, but it seems to be working. do you guys know what my problem is using tasclient? is it a problem with my connection or what?

and i just made some test with a 1s timeout and i can log in without problem

You set the CLIENTSIDE timeout to 1s, which is irrelevant in this situation. tasclient is not pinging during login, due to being completely locked up as it processes login data. So the server is killing it.

And flop, you can stop posting logs, they're all showing the exact same situation

ok now im not the "tasclient maintainer" anymore, i'll commit some shit sometimes ... but don't ask me anything just download and use springlobby ty (and don't forget that instead of crying for something you want in the lobby ... it is open source)

Make a separate thread that sends PING at regular timed intervals regardless of what traffic is being processed.

Problem solved, it's a 30 second job in most languages too, and requires little or no network knowledge of any kind except if(connected).

Why this solution should be made out to be horrifically complicated or that the problem should be denied and fobbed off on tasserver at all is quite laughable. It doesn't happen in aflobby or springlobby, only tasclient so it must be a bug in tasserver!

See my point? This sort of behaviour is called digging yourself a grave, it's far more effective to acknowledge the issue and say you don't have time to fix it.

90% of all tasclients grumbles, issues, bugs, and complaints, can all be solved using code that can be written in a handful of lines. Here is an example:

Albeit it is Java not Delphi but it does the job and it does it so much better than tasclient does it for such a simple piece of code. A C++ Boost version would take up a similar amount of space but with a loop and some variables for time control, and an escape condition, and a groovy version would probably be even tinier.
