What Gota is saying makes perfect sense actual.

Except for the individual thing: I think that since I am the only thing that I can be sure that exists (because I wouldnt be able to think into this if I didnt existed), I can consider myself the center of the universe :)

"Pensacola's policy is that the King James is the only divinely inspired English translation."

This is invariably a sign of lunacy in one degree or another.

There is no such thing as absolute truth, except that I exist since I think.

That isn't absolute either, it is founded on the suppositions of a single man who generated a start point so he could move along.

Its truth for ever person from viewpoint of that person, but not for the others... like: I have conscience so I know I exist, but I cant tell if other people have conscience too or if they are just lots of chemical reactions going on...

Sort of: I must exist in some level because a ilusion cannot exist if there is nothing to be eluded :)

Nope, it's based on things that are useful. Absolute truth would require even removing unreasonable doubt (like "God made it!"), Science only deals with reasonable doubt.

Its very important to first define what "to exist" means..
than you go on...If you define things correctly you cant be disputed logicly and you can safely move on..

What is correct tough? :) Maybe what cannot be proven wrong? but is there really anything that has no chance of being proven wrong? :)

Maybe we can say that "to exist" is to be in some way diferent from something else, like, being made of something else, be somewhere else, etc.The nothingness and space are included here too: nothing is diferent from something and space means that there is more than one thing or places for there to be something.

Discussions about the essence are so abstract :)

hm I agree with gota for the most part too. I'm in two philosophy classes this semester at uni and thats pretty much what I gather from them. There are no absolute truths and probably not much underlying unity to the rapidly changing mess of a world we live in but you have to presuppose that there IS some unity, like that everything actually is matter at it's core or everything is part of err whatever hindu's believe etc, in order to make sense of anything at all. It worries philosophers because the presuppositions we make create what should be a horrible foundation for knowledge. Imo, it all works as we currently believe things should and the presuppositions are more or less irrelevant. Definitely a pragmatist here :P.

It all works as we currently believe in life, but not after it :) (assuming that there is something afterlife, what I hope since not existing doesnt sounds fun... at least, I didnt found the incontable eras before I was born fun :) )

No, but living in a world where people admit that they might be wrong and open space to new ideas would be good :)

Science requires the possibility of wrongfulness from all statements. That's the whole point... it's about making no assumptions ultimately... well at least to the point that I make no assumptions that aren't simply a tool for tracing down fact.

If you actually read the bible...

It is very easy to understand. Before Christ died for the world's sins god was quite strict, especially with the jews. At sianai(spelling?) he cause the ones worshipping a golden calf to be swollowed up by the earth.

The reason that god enacted the plagues of egypt, was because pharoah refused to let my people (the jews, god's people) go. Therefore, god twisted pharoah's arm a bit. Then, after pharoah lets them go, he decided that it was a bad idea, so his army rolls out in an attempt to bring them back... Enter red sea.

If you pay attention throughout the old testament, god gets less and less vengeful. Up until christ's death, then notice that even though occasionally miracles still happen (throughout the new testament), they start becoming few and far between as time passes.

Remember that many very important differences took place upon christ's death. Sacrifices to god were no longer accepted by god (because christ died to atone for the world's sin, at thsi point all that is needed is that the person in question ask god for forgivness), and there are a lot of other examples if you pay close enough attention.

BTW on the subject of consciences, it is theorized that our state of awareness (mind) and our conscience is the embodiment of our souls.

Meh sorry. I find the study of theology and/or mythology somewhat facinating.
