For those people experimenting with cubemap skyboxes, this photoshop plugin gives a 4 to 1 file size reduction from what Cubemapgen outputs, here is a link to the plugin.

I put the cubemap together with Cubemapgen, save and re open with photoshop and save.
A 20mb cubemap will be reduced to around 3 or 4 mb.

Ages ago I uploaded a file containing plugins for creating cubemaps for Adobe photoshop, Jasc Paintshop Pro, Maya, 3DS Max, all taken from the directx 9 SDK. Those who have the sdk also have mcirosoft tools for viewing and creating dds textures and it's already set by default to open dds files in that tool.

These cubemaps should also compress well in archives so stick them in the map sd7 file.
