Wiki needs some serious cleanup work
Lot of linkspam and worthless/orphaned pages abound
Who all has admin perms on it?

Re: Wiki needs some serious cleanup work
We have four admins, no idea what they're up to. AF and I both used to work on the Wiki often, but he has other responsibilities and I'm focused on some personal projects.
Re: Wiki needs some serious cleanup work
you can always make an account if you want
Re: Wiki needs some serious cleanup work
It's far easier to ask someone else to do it.
Re: Wiki needs some serious cleanup work
I'd help clean up the wiki... Does anyone who registers an account have access.
Maybe I can go around removing any dead links or worthless pages.

Re: Wiki needs some serious cleanup work
It's a Wiki. The whole point of a Wiki is that anyone can edit it.
Re: Wiki needs some serious cleanup work
just paste the URL's and i'll clean. im too lazy to find out which pages are messed up...
Re: Wiki needs some serious cleanup work
Don't go deleting "worthless pages" you might delete the wrong thing.

Re: Wiki needs some serious cleanup work
people read the wiki?
Re: Wiki needs some serious cleanup work
I'm a wiki admin, but I am kinda hands off, if you want a page deleted feel free to PM me about it.
Re: Wiki needs some serious cleanup work
[[CurrentVersion]] is broken, anyone knows how to fix?
Re: Wiki needs some serious cleanup work
Also some more questions:
Is there a good reason we're keeping the oudated mods article alive and not just deleting it and starting from scratch?
Shouldn't MTR be deleted? as is, it's pretty useless and outdated.
Why is map development info duplicated in the Maps article, any good reasons for this? Edit: I made it a link.
Also, why do you all suck, seriously:
(doing some minor Wiki edits now)
Imo, deletion worthy articles:
http://spring.clan-sy.com/wiki/Getting_Started (outdated, replaced by other articles)
http://spring.clan-sy.com/wiki/Linux (outdated, replaced by other articles)
http://spring.clan-sy.com/wiki/Mac (outdated, replaced by other articles)
http://spring.clan-sy.com/wiki/MultiplatformSpring (outdated, replaced by other articles)
http://spring.clan-sy.com/wiki/Related_Software (nothing links to it, looks like it never was seriously used)
Also, what to do about these (outdated lobby clients):
http://spring.clan-sy.com/wiki/Altaric's_Lobby_Client
http://spring.clan-sy.com/wiki/Unity_Lobby

Not only is the Wiki horribly outdated, it's written by people with no ideas of the difference between left and right!<tr>
<td>/info</td><td>Shows you what colour each player is and their ping delay in the bottom left corner of the screen.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>clock</td><td>Shows you the elapsed game time in minutes and seconds in the bottom left corner of the screen</td>

Re: Wiki needs some serious cleanup work
Yeah... there's no real "wiki organizer" currently active in the community, they come and go.
If you would like the job just start fixing stuff, as long as nothing is deleted... instead of removing content from an out of date page put a link at the top that that goes to the page that DOES have it and make up a category for it and then PM me a list of the old pages so I can review and remove them... I really prefer to just do a redirect in case someone has linked to the old page in a forum post or something.
In some cases there are 2 or more incomplete articles in place because no one has bothered to finish them... some cases there are tutorials or documentation geared towards different audiences (modders, devs, players etc.)
edit: for the "Obsolete" Stuff I like to keep it around for the sake of posterity but to put a note saying it's no longer in active development or compatible with the current version.. sometimes devs will return from oblivion and update again.

Re: Wiki needs some serious cleanup work
Redirect "Linux" to "Linux Page"
Redirect "MultiplatformSpring" to "Linux Page"
Redirect "Getting Started" to "Read Me First"
Redirect "Mac" to "Spring on MacOSX"
Not that it's important, as no major articles link to it anyway (except on the German wiki, which is even more out of date than the English one is!)

Re: Wiki needs some serious cleanup work
Sometimes, like for modding/weapons/etc... articles, the worthless crappy short page has the one tiny bit of info that you were desperatly needing and that isn't any other page.
Linkspammed page are usually very good article that were destroyed by spambots. Don't delete the page, but look at the history until you find the version prior to any botspam and revert to that one (but be careful, often more than one bot has maimed the page, so don't just revert to half maimed, but to before any bot, state).

Re: Wiki needs some serious cleanup work
I'll spend more time on the wiki, but only YOU can prevent wiki spam.
Re: Wiki needs some serious cleanup work
I have my own ideas about what should be done about the wiki, and they're far more extreme than what has been put here, and also concern he new website effort and lobby development.
