Texture Replacer

Post by Gnomre »

Zsinj told me about this program, and a quick search shows that it was apparently made by Benito, but I couldn't find anywhere to get it. Does anyone still have the texture replacer, which factored out all the shaded textures to conserve texture space and allow for more textures to be used?

And similarly, does anyone know of a program that will go through and tell which textures are completely unused? (Benito's might... maybe if it reports 0 changes made that would be a sign that the texture is unused.)

Thanks.

Once I finally get full steam on my unit editor all this stuff will be included. Cross referencing sounds, menus, weapons, textures...

But it's not even close to complete just yet, trying to finalize the latest on the map builder.

Ooh, sorry, missed this question entirely

TA 3DO Bleacher is the proggy you are after, all it does is remove all the shaded versions of textures from a 3DO file, it won't necessarily remove the need for the texture itself. If, for example, a there are four textures of different brightnesses, it will search a 3DO for use of those textures, if on one model it uses the 2nd, 3rd and 4th brightest, it change the 3rd and 4th to the 2nd. But if on another it uses only the 3rd and 4th brightest, it will only brighten the 4th to the 3rd, as the 2nd wasn't used anywhere. So in this case you still need both the 2nd and 3rd brightest, but not necessarily the 4th (unless there is a another unit that only uses it and none of the others).

Any references to unused textures are removed from the 3DO, but it will not tell you which textures are no longer required.

It's still certainly easier than going through and manually hunting down all the shaded textures ;)

Thanks a bunch.
