game modification request

Post by Sorn »

Hi everyone,

Would someone be so kind as to create a high contrast of colours, either configurable or not.. In regards to placing mines, some maps it is hard to see the area of effect each mining plant has. In particularily, its harder to see when you are slightly red-green color blind.

That should be an easy request to do, to change the colour, make it blue or something like that. Even better would be to make those colours configurable so that people can change it to how they like.

Thanks!

sorn, have you tried to configure your video card management of colors?

in my (cheap and dirty) ati, there is a color management tab (adv. properties), there you can .. modify the color curve which is used by your video card, im not sure how to do that what you want exactly into there, but fiddling a bit with it may (just dont cilck ok till you are completely convinced you like the changes) get you to something usefull.

Change every color in single channel, you can save profiles of color settings too.

About mines area damage, the circles around the mine, are not the actual damage radius, i dont know if the game takes this data from the actual damage generated by the mines, or if its an diff. number.
The 2 last mines have a huge damage area, but the radius displayed is the same as in the first mines, so its not much usefull rigth now.

You can place almost all mines within a "solar colector" space within each other, and they wont destroy the next mine when exploding.

those small area mines can be placed even a bit closer and wont damage much the mines next to them.

the mines of the fourth type have a bigger damage area.. (and a very nice effect on lvl 1 units ) an "air factory long" space between them works nice.

He means metal extractors (metal mines) and the green-red metal distribution map...

If you mean that it is difficult to see the red circle around mines I totally agree, even though I'm not colorblind. Wouldn't it be possible to remove the green color instead of adding red?

well you could reduce the greeniness and make it more black when mexes are added, that might work because most people can see the difference between green and black (i think)

I am red/green colour blind, and also have trouble seeing it.

In australia, they put more blue into the green of the traffic lights, so that it is easier to see for red/green colourblind people (1/3 of all males). You could do something similar, for example, putting more orange into the red, or whatever.

I think a bit of something needs to be done to modify the metal readout (f4) screen. I've noticed that whiter textures on the terrain make it look like the area has more metal; when in reality it is just the white overlaying the green makes a really bright metal-rich-looking green.

Thats great, thanks for all the support folks. I am glad I am not the only one that has trouble distinguishing the colours.

Any of the devs want to take this on for next release?
