Would anyone be interested in creating a "guard area" widget. The idea being that:
1) A unit using this would follow a whole group not just one unit or a string of units and hope they don't all die. Great for telling radar trucks or con bots to follow a group of tanks and not overshoot them. They track the nearest unit and follow it, then if it dies they auto select the next nearest of the units that were originally located in the selection area group.
2) Repair or help the first unit damaged in the group, if several are damaged at once, it helps the nearest first and so on. Army medics.
3) a side use would be to allow con units to work several factories. And auto switch to the nearest factory still building once the one they were at shuts down. Not that I really am suggested I care about this but that would be a logical consequence. But not the best use of the idea.

hmm. To work well, the unit needs to truely guard the group, and not just focus on one unit that gets killed. Have it help the one that is the most damaged first, until it is equal to teh second best, then help it and the second best. Does that make sense?
Re: Guard area Widget
have someone make you a 'center of mass patrol' widget. this would be on the verge of hax imho, but would work.
Re: Guard area Widget
As in calculate the center of a set of units? Thats just averaging their pos, or weighted averaging if you would like. also, if they are spread out, this is phail.

Really all I want is to be able to have a group follow a group and heal them if they get hurt. Your idea of healing the most wounded first is better than nearest. Except that if your healers are Kbots it maybe hard to muscle through the crowd to get the the guys in the front. But if they don't the guys in front won't get healed. Unless they're the nearest hurt and then it's back to the same idea result. But if they heal as they go that might be better. I'm not sure, both seem to have their uses as I can see it. being able to choose could mean the best of both. Healing as you go and forcing to the front to heal both happening at once.
