Ping increases till it's 100,000!!!

I've been trying to play a game with a friend of mine on the public server. But every time we connect, no matter who's the host, the client's ping always, ALWAYS climbs up slowly till it's about 103,000!!! Then it holds. Making it impossible to play a game with any sane amount of reflexivity.

a) one or both of you have horrifically bad connections
b) one or both of you have poorly configured routers
c) one or both of you have poorly configured firewalls
d) you arent using NAT techniques properly

thats all i can think of off the top of my head.

maybe you use proxy?

I have the same problem. Can I somehow configure my firewall? I have very fast internet connection, so it cant be the reason.

I've got a fast internet connection too, and I don't have a problem with playing with other people.

But its not usual lag, I see what is coming, what others do in real time. Just my actions and clicks happen many minutes later
