HL2 mod: Hidden
Look up Hidden: Source and play it. Not nearly enough people have heard of it, let alone played it.
Basically think of a genetic freak who is a combination of of the predator from predator and... the alien from alien. ... Anyway it's excellent.
One player is randomly made the "Hidden", which is the aforementioned monster-thing, while the others are the special ops team sent to kill it. The military guys can choose their loadout sort of (not a lot of variety but that's ok), while the Hidden always has the same weapons.
It's incredibly atmospheric and generally excellent in every way. If nobody kills the Hidden before time's out, or if the Hidden kills everyone else, that player remains as the Hidden. Once he's killed, a new one is randomly chosen. The Hidden has the ability to climb walls and instagib anyone it gets close to. He's also almost invisible. All you hear as a marine is gunfire and your allies' screams as they die. One by one you're killed off. What's really great is that you, as the Hidden, make a sound just before you kill someone with your most powerful attack. But you can also make similar sounds at will via the audio messaging system. So you can REALLY freak the other guys out.
Make them empty their clip at the air, then as they reload come down and tear them limb from limb and stick their destroyed bodies to the wall as a warning to others.

To me, it's the sort of mod you play for a week or so before giving it up.

Hidden is a great mod. It can be boring as a grunt, but that only lasts so long, then you get to be hidden. If the mod has one problem it's just that it doesn't really have much long lasting gameplay. There's really only one game mode, and there's no way to possibly play that mode competitively, so you pretty much just play pub games over and over until you get bored of the game. Granted, it can be a long while before that will likely happen, but it's still disappointing that there's no real way to make the game more interesting once you've done/seen it all.
Really, it plays like a good single player game, so while it's fun to play, you can't just play it over and over forever.
[edit] the other thing is that almost all the maps have cheap grunt spots/strats, either they need to be arbitrarily banned by server administration, or the game isn't much fun cause it's too easy to kill the hidden.

Not to mention that a fair bit of admins will boot your ass if you get too good at spotting the hidden <_< >_>.
Still, playing it is good if you want to have teh "skill" of spotting semi-transparent / invisible-y wavey thingies.
Helps for certain other mods like Dystopia and anything that uses that shader effect to "hide" something.

[edit] Another thing is, the best strats as the hidden are all related to using the leap skill to move in formations that are unpredictable to people who will assume the hidden is going to move mostly within view, in straight lines, or on the ground. Since very few hidden players can acctually handle the motions it takes to pull off most of those strats, alot of hidden players do stupid things that get them killed by a skilled player which additionally draws suspicion on said skilled player. Like most FPS games, when you get too good, either you move to competitive where people understand, or you get banned alot. The former isn't an option in "the hidden".

Played it. Good mod, nice atmospere. Would be helped by a disticnt lack of team killing retards.
