I had some correspondence with minion about it but something caused him to disappear mid work on it. The version that is released is not ready to port as it was incomplete.

There was a plan to merge the two mods yielding 4 factions.

Hmm, team is a little focused on just fixing FF itself, but I wouldn't mind seeing Independence Wars as another faction. There are quite a lot of space mods for OTA iirc.
