Mouse Binding?

Post by carbon »

Say I wanted to bind "ALT-Mouse Down" or "Shift-Mouse Down" to my mouse's back button and "ALT-Mouse Up" or "Shift-Mouse Up" to my mouse's forward button. How would I go about doing that? And yes I know about the TAB key, but sometimes I think it would be cool to bind useful things like this to the extra mouse buttons.

Other neat shortcuts for those buttons might be F4 (metal map), F3 (last warning message), CTRL-Z (select units of same type, I use this A LOT), change build spacing/facing, or change pages in the build menu.

So in short, is it possible to bind single keys, keys with modifiers, or even multiple key presses to a to the back, forward, horizontal scroll buttons etc.?

I don't think you can map your mouse buttons directly, but if you happen to have a Logitech or MS mouse, or any kind of mouse which comes with driver software to remap the buttons you could do that.

Yeah I figured the Logitech software might do something like that, but all that software always seems like bloatware to me so I never install it. I was hoping Spring supported this directly. Maybe if I use /keydebug in-game it might give me a keycode when I click one of those buttons. I'll test it after a bit. Also, there might be a good light-weight macro recording program for mice and keyboards. Anybody know of one that binds macros to mouse buttons? Right now I am messing with ClickyMouse. It seems pretty powerful, but I have yet to figure it out fully.
