Zoom In and Out Speed

Post by datomas »

Hi all!

I started playing spring, but I found frustrating speed of zoom in and zoom out feature. It is not smooth as in Supreme Commander.

Is there a way to fix this? I played with mouse options but I can't find it...

Also, should be Y axis of the mouse be inverted or not?

Don't be harsh, I am newbie in a way.

I know where to find it, but which one is correct? Inverted or not?

On the zoom feature, i get the feeling that zooming in and out is done in steps, it is not smooth, and it's not quick too. Where to set that speed?

You should use whichever you prefer.

Supreme Commander have an option to set sensitivity on zoom wheel (middle button), so zooming in and out on whole map is done in a second, in Spring there is no such option, no?

When I want to zoom out, I need to scroll my mouse wheel about 20 times, while in SC it goes in 3 times maximum. Is there a fix, or it is engine limitation?

Thanks!

Holding alt while zooming makes it 9001% faster.

SHIFT accelerates all camera movement including zooming, ALT is for insta-zoom and CTRL+wheel (scrolling) tilts the cam.

There's also a button to zoom way out so that you see the whole map from above, but I can't remember which one it is (Tab I think...?)

Aye, TAB it be.

Used to be my most-used hotkey until I played SupCom... Now I've almost forgotten about it.

TheHive, you know what I am talking about zooming in and out. It is not smooth like in SC, right? Or my settings are wrong?

supcom's zooming is smooth, but it's also really slow in comparison... no thanks.

Well, it depends on your graphic set-up. On my machine it is smooth and quick, and you can adjust it the way it suits you.

Back on Spring: ScrollWheelSpeed in registry it's what I was looking for.

Well, I Installed Spring (latest) on other (shit) computer and the zoom in and out is smooth and quick.

This is driving me crazy.

Nvidia 6200 on Athlon 3000+ can run this game smoothly, but 8800 GTS 640 on Core2Duo E6600 can not. I have multi thread optimization turned off and latest drivers, btw.

It has more to do with the way your scroll wheel works. Try zooming using pgup/pgdn...or swapping mice :P

The mouse in question is Geinus Ergo 525, didn't have troubles with him with other games.

I did try another mouse, both usb and ps2, but the jerkiness on scroll continue. When I scroll down, i go directly to the grass, no scrolling at all, than I need to scroll up. It is annoying.

PageUp and PageDown work like a charm, with smooth zooming in and out.

I am really desperate...

Well, here is the solution:

It give the SupCom zooming feeling. It's not still smooth like with the page up/down key, but it is acceptable.
