We'll be getting a more stable updater. Updater is good. Noobs always complain about having to move archives and players always say how mods need installers. Its even easier than using an installer. Updater is simple pie with a dollop of easy.

yes, how about a general updater that can be given a path for any mods? (maybe download a master list of supporting mods, check which are installed and then enable updates those)
maybe the excellent CA team could generalise their updater quite easily? just a thought :) one .exe running for all mods is ok, one for each isn't really (and i use robocopy to mirror the spring dir across the LAN and save your bw).

another vote for lobbys handling maps download (p2p?) but this is slightly OT sorry. but very important if you want Spring more useable.

Those things are coming, but have nothing to do with this thread, which is simply for the installer of spring.

any possibility that the spring installer will in the future include an auto-updater?

That is a separate application that I will include in the initial installer when it is ready (talk to det and licho as they are the ones writing it).

I would like to see Evolution RTS on that list. It is not on UF with, but if I can get just a slight bit of notice before the final spring release I can have it up on UF in no time.

An auto updater would be an excellent idea tbh.

you've never publically released it, or even privately released it to more than a tiny handful of people. if you want it on the list right a description + release it publically

?? Why? We loves EE, and it seems complete-enough to include (although afaik you're still working on the aliens, so they could be left out of a version to be bundled). It's the most professional-looking mod for Spring.

Not much point to release something that won't work on the current version of spring is there?

I think he doesn't want to listen to the players bug him about why it doesn't work in the current spring.

i think that is just stupid to call SM, GF, DSD nooby when they are the most popular and liked maps. i play DSD all the time it is the most fun map. Whenever i download and play a new map i just never really like it. and Greenfields is totally anti-noob because you have to be really good at managing your resources to know how to play it good. and your picture is SM too. and you play XTA which is just totally crap!

My sentiments exactly.

Conquer the north of DSD FTW!!!!!!!

I have not mastered pushing the middle, but that is a tricky and very fun/rewarding strategy for this map. No noob can handle this map. Only a pro can win this map well.

I don't like SM, but I like speedball :>

The mod works just fine on svn versions. Too bad the farking demo replays don't, otherwise I'd have another gameplay video on youtube by now.

This can't be! If a mod isn't updated anymore, that means nobodys care about it anymore, and so it won't be in the installer because no one will remember to mention it. If a mods is nearly finished and still playable in recent version, it means there's some modder(s) behind heavily working on it. Beside you said that that new system will comes with a mod updater system, no?

IMO you should just include mods that currently feel good and playable.

So, at least:
- Gundam
- Expand & Exterminate Though it's tricky to get a mod the author refuse to.
- Kernel Panic
- S44

My only complaint about DSD is that it's a vehicle-obsessed map (at least in BA). No navy (and thus no hovers), rarely see kbots, and only see air in the late-game.

Then again, the same could be said for 90% of maps in BA.

Try playing DSD 3v3 or 2v2 and see if you still like it. You won't ever get good at anything in spring except 6v6 DSD if that's all you play. Try playing a wide variety of maps and actually learn the game.

I will probably make a poll of the mod nominees and take some top number that get the most votes at some point. Hopefully this forum supports a checkbox type poll and not just a vote for only one mod type.
