revamp of a older map ...

Post by genblood »

I've made this map about 2 or 3 months ago ...
Last week, I converted it to a smaller map. It's
now 8x8 with 4 starting positions ...
Also I did some other changes too ...

Here are some screenies of the new look ...

worth releasing ...

metal out 2.0 for lvl1 mexs ..
wind : 6-21 ..
no Geos ..
no water ..

lol that map looks like one of your best. I like the light on the valleys dark on the hills contrast. Don't scrap plx and release. Maybe post the metal map and start positions first so that others could have a look at them.

I was planning on adding a Geo per side, but didn't do it ...

Well in a 1v1 with starts 1 and 2 you heavily favor start 1 by giving him 4 close together mex. I think you should redistribute the metal layout for max 2v2 in which all four starts are equal in number of mex and ease of defending them. A geo for each player would be nice, or alternatively just two geos in contested locations. I think this has the potential to be a nice 1v1 or 2v2 kbots map with a little more work. :) Also if you want to playtest a new version with revised metal layout pm me on the lobby.

Well I think all of the textures look really nice except the one you are using for the highest elevation. I wonder if you could come up with something almost black or obsidian like for the highest elevation to go with your scheme of light to dark as you increase in elevation. With regard to the metal at starts, I think that player 4 is kind of at a disadvantage trying to defend widely spaced mex. Also is it my imagination or are there more mex patches on the bottom than on the top? The more balanced you can make the map, the more it is going to be played IMO because someone won't say I don't want to start x cause that spot sucks.

You should go to each start position and try to imagine how you would build and defend the metals there. It shouldn't be significantly easier or harder at any of the four starts, but it can certainly be different.

Will do, I'll go from light to a darker texture for higher ground.

Looks nice. I like these big detail textures, they give it a rough feel. Looking at the pix this seems like a kbot map, no?
