Meh, my icon.

Could y'all maybe not use my old one, without alteration?

No offense meant to the relevant parties, but that could confuse people, who frequently key off of the visual symbols we use. I get flamed enough- I don't want to be flamed over something I didn't say, k?

I don't mind the ones making fun of the new one (TomBom's is funny) and feel free to take the old one and transmogrify it, or whatever. Just don't use it unchanged, that's all I ask.

As to why it got changed... the picture of myself it came from is really kewl, I couldn't help but decide it was time for a change when I got done messing with it. I'll post it when I get home, maybe you'll understand- I took it whilst updating my portfolio and stuff, and it was a fairly cruddy self-portrait (I suck at photography) until I shopped it, then it became really cool, pretty much accidentally (I used a Filter, and actually liked the results for once).

Here's the picture that started this, and a suggested alternative for Lurker (it's Friday, I don't have to work on anything but PURE for 2 days, I'm allowed to do lame 'shops, right? Right. And just doing a swirl is passe. Wouldn't want Lurker to be passe...):

Don't worry. I have plans in the avatar area once I feel like spending 15 minutes. Most likely tomorrow.

LOL... I'm not that pretty. Val's a lot taller and thinner- I'm built more like a tank:

And yes, I'm a terrible photographer. I think half of it is my digital camera, which is always doing things I don't want it to

Yeah, it's not pretty.

I haven't taken a good photo since I got rid of my old 35MM Nikon that shot on film... clunky and annoying as it was to set f-stops and stuff, I really think it took consistently better pictures than my digital, which I got for Christmas several years ago, and is one of those "cameras for dummies" models that basically defaults to doing everything automatically. Not that I was ever much of a photographer to begin with...

Putting yourself between a light source and a camera is a good way to screw up portraits on automatic cameras (unless you intend that underexposed look/use spot exposure)

when you shop the hell out of a picture you obscure the subject matter. Don't take this the wrong way but you really don't get subtlety. Slight tints and minor effects can go a long way. I should shop a picture of me some time.

However, when you do these heavily shopped images you are almost hidden enough to be censored.
