For mods with aircraft requiring fuel (e.g. NOTA, EE), it would be a great improvement if there was a building or unit in which multiple aircraft could be stored indefinitely. The main problem with aircraft lying all over the place is that when an order to move across the map is issued, they might only have half of their full fuel capacity and thus just before they reach their target, they turn back for the air repair pads, making the entire operation go pear-shaped. If aircraft would land only in airbases/aircraft carriers and nowhere else. They would be refueled even when idle and thus save a lot of trouble for the player.

Infinite storage space sounds utterly unrealistic tough.

It is possible, via LuaRules. Just make planes transportable. As far as infinite load, I think the max is about 1,000. It's done modside, wait for an LUA master to correct me.

Who gives a crud if it's unrealistic? We can say they're being teleported to some off screen base or stored underground or something.
Alternatively, the pads might not infinite: they only be able to hold 4-6 aircraft or something each, so need a good deal of them.

It would also be nice if we could set it so that aircraft could only land on pads (with it being impossible to build more if you haven't enough pads - though that'll be LUA-able)

You mean like command & conquer style?

Keeping things real helps keeping then from being unbalanced. For example building just 1 airfields and keeping a huge squad of aircraft inside is not just unrealistic, but also makes airfields op and allow you to, for example, draw a enormous swarm of planes out of nowhere (enemy cant see planes inside it) and then rape an incoming arm or something like it.

Anyone ever play Raid on Bugeling Bay? I always liked their airfields where they had parking for several aircraft. As planes would run low on fuel they'd rotate down to refuel. And as planes were lost they reappeared from the airfield. I could live with something like that.
