Constant multiplayer drop-out, help ;~;

Post by commondragon »

Hello, I have a problem. It seems that I can't play multiplayer online against other people. When I do it goes to an in-game camera and then freezes. This happened recently and I didn't change anything besides install the newest BA and Blox (I dont want to hear about my mod choices).

At first it would load all the way to "creating sky", and then I would go in game, and see a red name (I would still see chat that went on before I go to the in-game), but now it only goes to "reading estimate path costs". It works with AI, but not with other players. I cant get it to work hosting either. Also when the game camera comes up I get a gray screen with red names for a few seconds, ut I think its just loading the graphics on my monitor.

I have windows XP. MY interenet is DSL, but it runs basicly as fast as a regular T1. I have a firewall but it was never a problem before and turning it off doesn't fix a thing. I do not get any error messages. I have 256 MB of RAM, an Intel 82845Gg/Gl/Ge/PE/GV graphics, and the game client says my CPU is 2.7 GHz.

EDIT: Almsot fogot this, im also deleting the AI that had problems and trying again ^^.

Fix? O.o

Post by commondragon »

I got rid of the AI and disabled Lua.

Works fine now, but this might be strange:

I was playing a 5 player FFA in speedball 10x10 (Died really early). Suddenly it froze, I thought from lag. Well, I go to the restroom, and when I come back, my comp had restarted. When windows restored itself it said that there was a serious error. I'm kinda eep'd om that.

Why the hell are you on an MSI?

2.66 ghz, NOT 2.7.

256mb ram, GET MOAR.

Video Card, ABSOLUTE CRAP.

Fix them issues, turn down settings, etc.

It is a lag issue, and very well can be a ram issue. BloX has minimum requirements, shouldn't kill any pc, but that one. I've had one, it could run spring, with 512mb ram, and a 128mb ati card. It's a nice pc UNTIL you make it do something like gaming.

Also, even with the 128 ati, I could not play speed metal, [them hills] and had the video card overheating on Small Divide. >_<

Sounds like a gpu crash...not surprising considering the quality of the 845 chipset and drivers. That chipset is abolute crap, outperformed by even a 440MX. I'd highly recommend you upgrade your ram and buy a 5 or 6 series graphics card, to have a hope of playing spring at >10fps.

if you cant afford much just buy a geforce5200 or 5600 for ~30├óÔÇÜ┬¼ (dunno from where you are)
@ 512mb / crappy amd athlon XP 1,2ghz
it runs fine to me with 5200 (less detail settings but i got allmost stable 35 fps even on big games)

Microstar International, they made a Hermes 845G, my old pc, which has the same setup as your pc.

My recommendation is either a cheap e-machine. [$300]

Or more RAM, and a good pci video card. [Like $200]
