damnit i cant add pictures yet damni damnit
Here it is the public release of a project that doesnt even have a picture :D. This post is ment to share a bit of progress and to recruit ppl that love the scene and are willing to help make this happen. First of all i started this with attention to make all models from scratch(year ago).
Well we make 10 from scratch now and we got a whole model packed from a guy called coxxon who released alot of his models for publical use. So most models are in s3o but i forgot to add the empty bodies. And other stuff. I will get in to that. But well we are a team of active spring players that making a mod other than other space mods.
ITs falling from sky because i wanted it to be not know yet(lol) but i wont be giving montly updates. We gonna work on it untill its done than release it. We are recruiting and i personall ylike the ta concept more but i wanted to make this because i liked the battlestar old series. Ther will be a old series mod in progress when we realised this one. The intention is to keep this mod as close possible to the real series.
Finally i didnt made this tread because i wanted to discuss this mod and is possibilities but ofcourse any posts are fine here. But this is a intruduction and a invitation to a warm welcome to our 2003 channel. Ther we dicuss progress and share eachothers ideas. I hope this post will bring new members in this mod since we could use some fresh views at a view aspects at the game. Here ther are. unit balancing, lua related stuff, xf stuff, cob stuff.
So i hope to see some guys of you in our channel some day if ya wanna contribute or having questions about progress. Anyway be welcom eto join our now 8 members counting crew. Let me help daan aka restrictor before he manages to edit his original post with more information about game play and overall progress of this mod.
Here is something i made for his mod:


I didn't texture it so this is made with some basic shaders for preview.
He has alot of spring-ready models but needs help with "unit balancing, lua related stuff, xf stuff, cob stuff. " as he said.

gameplay
Wel mostly i and another member that been here from the start i think like 6 month ago made a layout about the strategy and the gameplay. The gameplay is ment to be like in the series.
We need to overcome alot of obsticules but we maneged alot allready. For instance a year ago since we started we wanted to add more alltitude to it so we were suprised lua got introduced. Basicully we will use morfing to give altitude orders. But apart from movement we also wanted to introduce scale and that will mostly effect the speed of alot of objects.
Than the game starts with battlestars and basestars. And a facility to get resources from recourceunits of the map. Basicully we wanted to add a jump for soem units so fleets can jump to other sactions of the map. This isnt realised yet but i seen soemthing like starwars do it. Anyway its gonna be a run and hide in a way. Every battlestar can facilitate to 25 fighters as base stars can. Only fighters needs a ficility like that to not die on ya. so we wanted to make distances on maps bigger by making bounderies gtting ther fast. We wanted a some thing like scout before jump system to restrict jumping to every wher some how. Or we are using a differnt system. Any way we wanna set soem bouderies to get that effect. Than ter are soem special ships witch will transport stuff to refineries withing the colonial fleet. On the other hand there will be deeploieble heavy raiders fucntion like stationary refineries. I just modeled it today :D. Than my mouse wnet mad.
Besides the spamming of mainly 2 units from both sides we will also let basestars and battlestars be part of battles. colonieals will have some difference battlestars and cylons have only one. Than ther are besides the fighters and motherships upgrades for raiders aswell for vipers. Mk2 for instance. Than ther will be raiders with nuke limited to be build. And battlestars carries also nukes. Than we also thinking about introducing like heavy raiders vipers with rockets on board.
This will bring more than just gameplay spamming on sort we hope but this is all speculating. We tried to com ewith a final resource necessary to expand. In colonials we thought about the civilian count on board. More civilians more ships. Anyway we taking about stuff at this in 2003 channel.

I hope i didnt unitentionally give you guys a reason to think we(dephelopers) made most models our selves. Basicully i dont have the time to model it and i sure doe not have the skillz to texture in a way i even com close to duplicate santa. That said i wanted to tell soem new stuff here about the mod what was discussed a couple of months ago about this mod.
We cam e to the conclusion ther was a mod only for the new series and not using the oldseries what soever in this mod. This ment for me to stop working on the mod of the old series witch i like most doing since it was challanging to collect concepts and remodel them. I came to the conclussions the old battlestar would make meat out off the new battlestargalactica. And af needed to ackknolage this even he doesnt like the old ones as he likes the new ones. I agreed on hi s point that the ew series battlerstar(series) are more real action.

i can be short about this. i Allready told here i have models from coxxon. Coxxon released his models for general uses. Than the foto you posted was for me a way to show you what i was modeling i dont rip!
So i didnt model that but i used that as a way to model my own model.
Ther that said i wanted to say AF and me were just fighting a little about who would beat who hypothetical when new series faces the old series. For the facts we are talking about two mods here. So dont make it mode confusing than it is. On mod new series. One mod old series.
Than ther is a question about permission! i started to use his models since i knew they were released and under what sercumstances. BUT STILL I WANT IN A LETTER FULL AUTORISATION FROM THIS AUTHOR. So for ppl that dont wanna waste time dont work on this models. They might not be released in this mod anyway.
But I got those models through 4 different modelprograms to get them where they are now in s3o format and i working on them untill they can be released. I WONT RELEASE THEM IF I DONT HAD CONTACT WITH THE AUTHOR PREVIOUSLY. so nobody has permission to use these models for release stuff in your own or this mod. I will also not apprieciate that the s3o models possibly will been taken of some treads before consulting me.

Well ofcourse the old series would not win in fact because ther is this technology disatvantage for the old series. But if you look at the both starships and ther moments in each series everybody can see the old one is shiny and has the members proud written all over it. And for a fact is all Science fiction anyway(it didnt really happen) i say the old battlestar would win in showbizz land. Only by haveing a great intro tune with it. If we could only play that when starting up the old mod. :D if ppl wanna view the old series plz dont download the series from 1980 they were bullucks

i am now testing if this file will be downloadeble. I assume nobody gonna take effort to download 29 mb anyway so i am making the tga textures dds if i found out how. But i remebered aa mxlt program or something that could also add alpha layers and edit the alphas. Any help on this welcome. tx in advanteges. btw the file i downloaded is broke because my privider gives me only 25 mb my guess.
But i will come up with new modfolder for those who are interested in helping me with the 20 units i got so far and textures. PM me

Tx for the help guys. Here is some progress.
I start with the points i am working on.
- a bos script to give them manovers
-cob scripter
(this i wanna keep very basic for start)
- the folder contains i believe 10 models with dds textures now
- i will put empty pieces in some models for firing and docking
- i will add lateron more versions of models to use LOD
- trepan provided me with a program to decimate.
CAUTION this file is not playeble or even viewble. SO WHY IS IT HER
