first post here in a while (and i just started playing again) about this artificial rules buisness

i dunno if ur familiar with dota the custom map for wc3 which itself is more popular than wc3 atm and is now i proper e sport with tons of leagues sponsors and such and still within the map there are rules so that stuff dusnt get abused

no pooling (dusnt rilly apply to TA and a 1v1 ladder) were people gave all items to a player and farmed for him

and no backdooring (this can be close to com bombing) this is a rule applied in all leagues rilly were u cant attack the base if ur not supported by ur troops means u cant just rush in and attack and blow up towers unsupported and no1 whines about the rules cos it makes games way fairer

so rules are in all games even at competitive levels tis not a flaw in the game just sumthing which can be abused for an easy win.

if not another suggestion would be to stop atlas's being able to lift coms think its perfectly reasonable imo

How about a new choice for D-Gun setting? A kind of extended limited D-Gun: One would be unable to shoot the D-Gun inide an enemy's limit range. I.E. You could use D-Gun anywhere except near enemy's starting position.

This would certainly solve the atlas/valkyrie issue in 1v1, since dropping a com into the base with only one puny laser as self defence is highly risky at best. You could try spam LLT's inside enemy's base but then again 3 flashes could kill you.

Very small maps could prove troublesome (possibly disabling D-Gun altogether), unless the limit range is/would be relative to map size.

Oh, then why not use it in 1v1 turneys?

Limit dgun is fail because it prevents expanding with com. However if you limited dgun in a small area around the enemy's start position, that might be a good idea (especially if the limit turned off after x # of minutes). Flop wouldn't win another game. :P

Limit d-gun is fine, the radius is HUGE (so huge in fact that on most maps, i dont think it even matters?). What is frustrating is not realising you are outside the radius (or forgetting). Thats all.

Not really I often found it was smaller than I wanted it to be so I won't play with limit on.

If the radius is problematic, why not make it adjustable with a slider like res and unit limit? Possibly an adjustable limit time too, i.e. 10 minutes, as in the rule, after which D-Gun would be allowed everywhere. Anyway, this discussion should have its own thread.
