Heh the krog list epicness 8 years ago. Time to catch up to the times.Machiosabre wrote:I dunno i spose they could be faster and made worse in other ways, but that would remove the sort of epicness off it and make it another regular unit, just bigger.
A lot of special units have one of two stats with extreme numbers to make them interesting.

what if they allowed it to move at a regular pace but then slows down when it goes to fire(so it's massive guns do not knock it over?)?Machiosabre wrote:I dunno i spose they could be faster and made worse in other ways, but that would remove the sort of epicness off it and make it another regular unit, just bigger.

Or what about having it move faster then stop entirely while firing?
Both of which are easy to do.

that doesn't mean I will ever stop suggesting them. Ba is very unintersting to me as the units function in a very linear manner. There is no wavering in their function just a bigger or slower unit plodding along.
Unit should run and walk, they should careen down slopes tanks should slide on hills, aquatic units should move FASTER in water etc. Hovercraft units should be able to zip around really fast when no shooting.
I hate how all units are the same.

OH noes a different idea! or the unit could be running on a loop that has a delay but that would be too hard to understand and implement for some people...Sleksa wrote:so you could just toggle it to hold fire, then move with flash's speed into enemy base and toggle fire at will?
GG WP
the jugg is meant to be like the sumo, only bigger, and i dont want to see sumos with skates either.
*edit*
Although that would add some true micro to the unit and skill in using it. I didn't say the thing would move at 8X speed of course I could suggest adding a polygonal taco on one of the units and you guys would shit brix.

You're missing the point dude.KingRaptor wrote:Krogoth is already surprisingly fast for its size, and it has plenty of range too.
And that point is, use scripting and lua to add atmosphere to the game.
Hell I offered the effects that I use in Funta to all TA based mods cause they look great. BA could benefit quite muchly from them, hell they're already done! All you have to do is add 1 line to the weapons.
The simple truth is that BA is afraid to improvise and incorporate and add new things. Even more interesting is the fact that I find BA's "Balance" to be weak and uninteresting at best. Fear of change is the quicksand in which BA is mired. It's sad really.
Back to the krog, there are a million ways to let that thing move at a decent pace an balance it at the same time.
The problem is that BA IS SLIPPING!
you guys can say what you want and sure 3-4 of you will play it but that isn't the crowd you want.
Fact of the matter is that BA needs some new and interesting concepts. limited number units like krogoth and pals are great chances for micro weapons, abilites etc.
What if the krogoth had a lua AOE shockwave like the one blackout uses in transformers? It would have to be microed and would have a delay etc.
What about the sniper units having a lua morph into a jetpack so they could get in hard to reach places then morph back!?!?
PEOPLE start thinking of ways to make this stale old crap interesting and people will flock to you. I WISH gundam WASN'T soo restrictive. There are soo many cool things that lua and spring can do.

On a side note, speaking of that, you are welcome at any time to join me in working on evolution. I'm getting oh so close, and actually Pressure Line is working with me now, but we could always use more help (especially when the help comes with as much talent as yousmoth wrote:PEOPLE start thinking of ways to make this stale old crap interesting and people will flock to you. Back to BA... One of the main problems is that BA muchly gets the drool on the keyboard effect, but sorely misses any sort of "Wow" factor.
F**** HOW MANY TIMES DO I NEED TO TELL THIS.Fact of the matter is that BA needs some new and interesting concepts. limited number units like krogoth and pals are great chances for micro weapons, abilites etc.
BA IS NOT GOING TO BECOME YOUR FUCKING NEW FASHION THING
it will be balanced version out of absolute annihilation, thats all there is to it.
please forward your awesome concepts and other shit you vomit here into CA threads or something.
ba doesnt need, doesnt want new concepts, new units, new lua shit or blackhole creating guns. stop suggesting them, please.
Don't add please onto the end of a post where you harshly censure me with such language. It just adds a sort of patronizing tone to the end of your post.
I will type what I please and MAYBE noize may like one of the ideas and use them. Just because you feel that the idea is useless noize may not. This is a simple principle of game design evolution. THINGS CHANGE with the times.
BA could stay the same and one day you will find yourself playing with yourself alone against bots all the time. Ideas and concepts help BA grow and yes it has room to grow.

Planting seeds... Planting Seeds.
That said, I would like for one to see a more agile Panther, with faster firing lightning, slower but more powerful rocket (not missle).
The thing is intended to bridge a gap between lvl1 and lvl2 and provide an advanced flash tank with anti air. It's stupid.
Give that thing a decent powered lightning gun with good reload times, and a heavy but slow re-firing rocket similar to storms/rocko's. THe anti Air on the panther is as ridiculous as it is worthless.
And for the love of god give it more than decent maneuverability. Last time I checked a panther didn't remind me of a sloth.

Smoth, BA isn't supposed to grow. It's supposed to stay roughly the same mod as the version of AA it was forked from. That's the point - every other mod is a constant mayhem of balancing and experimentation, but BA was supposed to be roughly stable (although it fails at this, since the balancing tweaks can be horrifically overdone, like the recent BB buff).
That's the idea. You have to think of BA as being, gameplay-wise "almost-finished". All that's left is tweaking, and glitz (it seriously needs glitz). That's the whole goal. There are tons of mods out there for experimentation, but BA isn't the one.
as for my suggestion about energy consumption - the Sumo and the Jugg were originally intended to be defensive units. Both are "barely-mobile turrets". Hence, my idea that moving them should cost energy. Thus, you build it, put it in position, and then leave it there until you need to move it to a new position. Marching it into an enemy base is costly, much like firing shells into an enemy base.
Either way, it's the kind of drastic change that exactly DOESN'T belong in BA.

Ok... You can say that all you like, but there is no tweaking involved. We have shown how it is done and completed the work before hand.Mr.Frumious wrote:Smoth, BA isn't supposed to grow. ^^ it's just an example, but it changes nothing, except the visual of what happens when that weapon hits something. God forbid that sleksa might need to bust out ctrl+c and crtl+v.
But hell, maybe all the BA guys know how to do is "tweak" text files.
Their main concern forb is that CEGs may hurt FPS, sure if you do not write good ones but the default explosions use enough particles that a ceg is an acceptable replacement.
honestly, they can tweak it from there. After all, if the thing is balance-wise finished, why have they not started adding some zaz.
