SpringSP v0.9

Post by Android_X »

Hi everyone,

It's been a while but I finally give you SpringSP version 0.9 8)
Image

SpringSP is a program that sets up a skirmish against AI players while offline.

Changes since version 0.8
*Added replay filter
*Added an option to set the player name
*Map info now is displayed in the map select window
*Fixed a problem with loading the mods cache
*Fixed a bug in changing ally teams
*Cleaned up some of the GUI code

Because I released SpringSP under the LGPL, I've replaced the TA theme with a new "rusted metal" theme.

This is the last release of SpringSP from me. If SpringSP stops working with future versions of spring, I may re-release v0.9 with compatibility fixes. Other that that, this is my last SpringSP.

Have fun!

Very nice.

I'm missing three things:
- minimap scaling in ratio to the map size
- color picker in addition to the default colors
- support for the lineage game mode or other new start script tags you might not have heard about

It loads VERY slowly when you have sdds around, as if it searches through all directories in mods for each mod that is loaded.

thank you for this. z missing feature is to be able to choose a random map.

I also like the standard theme, was it allready there in the earlier version?

True, I had several sdds laying around (I made them that so I didn't need to open and everything when I needed to look at something. Nanoblobs and CA are some) and when I had them it took at least 20 seconds. Now with my mod as the only SDD it loads in about a fourth of a second -.-

Thanks for the comments.

@vital Yes the standard theme has been around for several versions.

Like I said in the first post this was my last feature release, so I won't be changing things like the minimap ratio or adding a color picker etc. However, I don't mind if you guys code all that stuff and add it .

Are those new start tags in 0.75b1? If so I'll add support for the tags when I get time and maybe have a look at loading sdd mods faster.

ps Did your sdd mods load slowly in version 0.8?

Double click on replays in replay list to show approximate game time and also whether it was a full game or not (ie whether the replay lasts right until the end and wasnt quit midway through) :)

Is there any reason why SpringSP couldn't or shouldn't be added to the Spring installer?

Also, the link for it on the download page is broken, as are the other unknown files links.

You should tell what is SpringSP in the first post, not all of us knows it.

@TradeMark: Thanks for the tip. First post fixed.

@imbaczek: I'll take a look if you can point me to a compiled svn build.

think I found a bug in script generation that causes Spring to try to load Human as a bot depending on the order of players, details here:
http://spring.clan-sy.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=12344
can be worked around but not very newb-friendly when this happens.
thanks for this frontend btw we use it all the time.

Thanks for the bug report Smiff I've replied in the other thread.

Imbaczek I've uploaded a new ssp exe(link below) that should stop the crashes(tested with svn4578 and 0.75b2) but note that ssp doesn't recognize/load the replays made by svn4578. I'll try fix the replay issue whenever I get time.
