MC Solaar, Booba, Sniper, et al

Anyone here listen to french rap? its incredibly smooth, way more so than most American stuff.

My fav is prolly Sniper (du rire aux larmes and la france) and then booba and then mc solaar; i know solaar is the originator of a lot of modern french rap, but something about his flow just doesn't appeal to me.

only american rappers i've heard match most of French rap's flow are Eminem/Marshall Mathers (his old stuff, especially some of his freestyle, moreso than his newer releases), and possibly 50cent and kanye. possibly. kanye has good lycris, but they just dont belnd together.

course, near the top of my rap list along with eminem would prolly be Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, the old stuff is off the hook.

ps i dont speak french; babelfish + french buddies i have if i really wanna understand the lyrics.

Now im not into rap or anything, but isnt this only characteristic for MTV-rap and not for real rap?

I can enjoy the full spectrum of genre with the notable exceptions of modern hip-hop and country. My general focus remains between soft and hard rock, though I have been playing more with electronica and metal of late.

I kinda like some of Eminem's older stuff too. Cypress Hill are decent as well, at least some of their older songs. Although if I listen to rap, which I don't atm (dnb wins), then it's some german rapper you've probably never heard of.

heh as a musician i appreciate most forms of music except... i hate most modern rap (kanye west isnt that bad and i can listen to and enjoy a few songs) but 50 cent just annoys me

i generally listen to rock and the most rap i listen to is old chili peppers stuff (my all time faiv group) which is pretty much sex rap without violence and alot of funk so its way better than 50 cent imo (plus i love funk)

i also like beastie boys and other stuff pretty open taste of music just hate commercial shite (and dotn flame me on RHCP being commercial

) and stuff based on degrading women and shit and violence and getting shot all the time.. if ur getting shot all the time its cos ur a prick and if u got shot 9 times why arent u dead ;(
