Auto-Handicap for all non-Noob Players, once a Noob joins ?

Post by PicassoCT »

Beginners have a rough TIme in Spring, because this Programm rewards Veterans who use Hotkeys, know the Tricks, Tactics and Units - with a much higher Efficiency that anybody could reach in any other Strategy Game (SC excluded).

My Suggestion: a Auto-First-Game Handicap for other Players once somebody who has his first day in Spring joins a Game. Nothing spectatcular - just disabling Shift for this Game (not for the Beginner) or a Ressourcebonus...

new players tend to leak resources or use so much of them that what they're attempting to use is orders of magnitude higher than what they actually have.

Sorry, Noize, i may be wrong, but this sounds in my ears inacurrate.

A Bonus doesen´t take other Players on your level, it just gives a Noob, well a sort of Stilt, that is easy to outrun for professionels.

A Handicap forces the other Players onto the same level, and while they will beat the Noob up after a while, they still will have a good, meaning challenging Game.

It's not, Spring's handicap is a bonus. You give handicap to a player, he gets more resources and some other benefits.

Think of it like a golf handicap (where you are allowed so many strokes over par). The purpose of a golf handicap, as in spring, is to allow players of different skill levels to compete more equitably.
