Forum Rules
The forum rules need to be either enforced or deleted.
As it is now they are merely a joke.

Well if Tired was just perm banned (as in rebanned when evading again) for ban evasion as well as spreading illegal content as rules #7 and #8 state then there would no problem at all.
Probably half of the forum's active members would have to go as they troll each other on numerous occasions (most probably including myself). Tired on the other hand just does it for the fun of it and he's quite successfull at it, because no one's apparently learned how to ignore idiots. Never argue with an idiot... they bring you down to their level beat you with experience.

tbh that doesn't break any of the rules.JoseJoas wrote:I agree.

That's an interesting way of interpreting who has priority in terms of where, how, and by whom an artist's work is used.
Pottymouth! Banstick!^^
That's beside the point, though.
You can't seem to ignore me, Rattle, and experienced or not, you've yet to beat me. Full points for the cliche, though. =)
Felix, beyond using naughty language, your message fell within the context of a personal attack, which are expressly forbidden in the UE. Then again, you surely couldn't have expected much when you made this post beyond the daily fair of gripe sniping controversy. I'm somewhat proud of you.^^
All the same, I'll make a deal - if all the people here who should be banned by the rules they purport to want to see enforced delete their posts, then I'll delete mine as well. =)
As I've said before, what ban evasion? Oo

Tired was tempbanned for flame warring/baiting. We were in communication with him and the ban dodge was known to moderation, he was under active observation during the duration and in part allowed because essentially the flamewar had stopped at that point.
"as well as spreading illegal content as rules #7 and #8 state then there would no problem at all."
Spring moderation is not an institution responsible for translation and enforcement of civil law. We adhere to international law in clear cut cases, IE, we won't allow you to distribute child porn or pirated software. This being said, TRO never made a legal case against tired, he never pursued any real enforcement action, he just kind of said "I don't want you to use my unit". Spring currently exists because an institution in possession of a copyright can't be assed to do anything about our infringements on that licence, weather or not they have ever expressed an opinion on our actions, the fact remains, if they aren't willing to force us to stop then we will remain here. Copyright protects, but copyright harms as well, parts of it are bureaucratic, irrelevant to our context, and harmful to society.
This forum is little more than a gathering place for people wanting to talk about spring and spring related issues. Why would we censor someone for infringing on copyright that isn't ever going to be legally enforced? Why would we censor someone for breaking copyright law and being punished for it? Ultimately I can appreciate that people are angry at tired for what he did, but the notion that it should for some reason require a ban from spring is just not right in my mind.
FFS, tired hardly ever even post on the spring forums, and all of a sudden he's spring "troll" rank #1. I'll start banning "trolls" once I get a coherent and fair definition of the damn word that doesn't make trolling a completely legitimate thing to do. Lots of springers on this forum fish for reactions in different ways and different methods, that's part of the discourse of natural discussion, you're not protected from people who you allow to play with your emotions, and you're not protected from the differing opinions of others offending you.
People are pretty obviously just pissed because a content author got burned, and content authors in this community are put on a pedestal. The reality of the matter is, if you can't maturely and fairly negotiate the use of content you made, and you're not willing to pursue real legal action, I don't think it's the spring project's job to protect you in any way.

Uh, the only mod I've ever published was SWS1.0, and all non-original content from there was provided to me by the original SWTA producers (which I took over as lead developer, but never released because of a lack of interest).
So content that I've taken without permission from other people and repackaged as my own? none?
And currently I'm working on producing my own content for my own mod.
Which I sure hope noone steals and repackages against my will, because it's clear there's no backbone in this community to do anything about it.

I thought Tired stole credit too as far as what was said in the text files included in the mod.SwiftSpear wrote:How much TA content have you stolen in your time as a modder Zsinj?
If only copyright could be more like trademarks and such. If you are aware of someone using your content without permission and do absolutely nothing, not even saying to stop, then you lose the right to tell people not to use it in similar ways. Then you lose all of this having massive corporations with IP that just sits there and rots, never to be [legally] used again for decades, when it finally reaches public domain. (screw you Disney, stop bribing congress to increase that time past ridiculousness)

No text files were included with TiA. TRO is credited in the text file added after the complaint. Everyone knows Tired doesn't make units, he never claimed it was his own creation.lurker wrote:I thought Tired stole credit too as far as what was said in the text files included in the mod.SwiftSpear wrote:How much TA content have you stolen in your time as a modder Zsinj?
