I've never been drunk enough to forget anything either. Seriously, nothing fun in getting drunk. But getting buzzed can be a good time... but you don't notice you're buzzed if you're not doing something. Shoot pool, go on a crawl, dance, something.
Beer is an acquired taste, but it's fun once you get used to it. Caydr, since you're a Canuck, I recommend Alexander Keith's India Pale. Sleeman honey-brown is also a good beer to try if you're not a beer fan, but it does cruel things to your colon if you have too much of it. Keith's will make you love beer and want to start exploring dark, unexplored brews.
Avoid the cheap beers and the imports. Cheap beers are what you drink once you like beer and just want it cheap. Imports are all very particular, acquired tastes.
Alternately, try white wine. The tannins in red wine will knock you out if you're drinking a lot, but whites are nice. Strewn makes a wonderful Reisling-Gewurtztraminer mix that is fruity and sweet but dry enough to avoid being a girl drink.
Hard liquor will get you drunk, but the experience is so dull that it makes it feel like work. You should _enjoy_ your booze.
My current late-night treat is creme de menthe and chocolate milk.

Hehe, voddy is pretty much my most despised drink. I absolutely hate it, which is a shame considering how cheap it is. I do like other hard liquours though, particularly a good whiskey (I'm scottish, after all).FLOZi wrote:I work in a pub. I don't drink nearly as often as I'd like to![]()
Mainly a beer fan, though I do appreciate a fine vodka too, especially as it tends not to hit me very badly and doesn't give me a hangover.
Wine, on the other hand, is always, 100% a recipe for disaster. Gets me trollied very quickly and makes me feel like a corpse the next day.
When I drink wine I normally feel totally sober for the entire time I'm drinking it, so I end up drinking a bottle or two reasonably fast, impatient and waiting to be tipsy/buzzing. Then ofc it hits me all at once an hour and a bit after drinking and suddenly I'm completely tanked.
The most drunk I ever got in the first year of uni was after drinking 2 bottles of wine then going out clubbing and hitting the drink hard. Felt fine until about my second voddy coke (thats right, I hate it but I still drink it coz its usually the cheapest thing going) then suddenly I was completely wrecked. Total blank for the rest of the night after that besides a couple of random things I remembered.
At least it led me to finally come clean and get with a girl I'd been friends with and really really liked for a month or so before. She ended up being my girlfriend for most of the rest of first year, until she went back to England because she was "homesick"

Wine is good. :D

I'm a poor American college student, it's high class to me.DemO wrote:Stella isn't a "high class import" tbh. Pretty common beer, and IMO the main reason for it being one of the more expensive beers on tap is because of the higher alchohol percentage. I enjoy it, although to begin with i hated stella and only drank it because it is what my dad drinks so there was usually some in the fridge. Now I tend to go for stella over most other beers on tap (or if I'm getting a carry out from a store). Good balance between quality, price and easy to get drunk on because it's 5.2%
Best beers are German beers IMO. I would tell you which I prefer but I can't spell the names and CBA googling it.
When you're comparing all beers against Natty Light then they all look high class

(Natty Light - err, "Natural Light" - is the quintessential college party beer; $25 kegs and the like. It tastes horrible of course.)
Seriously, suggest a beer to me that I'd be able to find for a reasonable price in the US and I'll go buy it.
Beer is good, but you should really be drinking Real Ale. Mmmmm Ale. That or Guinness. Mmmmm. That or Red wine, or white if its with the right meal (red's nicer for general consumption.) And tequila is the nicer of the spirits. But I'll drink anything
(except vodkat, a vodka blend which, aside from the terrible name, and the fact it tastes like the smell of paint striper, I now won't drink (unless I'm to drunk to know I'm drinking it))
As for my tolerance... I can drink Ale till the cows come home, and can hold a fair amount of spirits, but I'll be pissed if I have over 2 bottles of wine... Unfortunately the only free booze I tend to get IS wine, cause thats what the boss at work likes. Hence why the only night I cant remember is one of the work do's....

i once demonstrated my incredible skill at the Gran Tursmo PSX/PS2 series. i was still winning races up to the point where i passed out just after making the final turn (i was winning that race too)Felix the Cat wrote:As for my tolerance... I lose my motor skills way before I lose my thinking skills. Eventually I lose both, after maybe 10 beers.
at that point (10 beers or so) i was so drunk i could barely walk, and speech understandable speech was little more than a memory.
I'll drink pretty much anything bar turpentine.. i spend so much money on booze its ridiculous... im never sick/pass out and have an endless capacity to keep drinking so that might be why..
