Screen shots of a new map ...

Post by genblood »

.

.
Here is some screen shots of a map I'm working on. The map size
is 20 x 20 ... Most likely I will not release it till the new map format
is released ....

So ... Here are the screen shots .... 8)

Its designed with game play in mind. The canals can be cross,
but only at certain spots. Also, metal isn't all over the map. It's
in key areas of the map. You can see roads too. I add to roads
because its different. The roads lead to the enemy base ...

I hope you like the screen shoots ....

. This is my first non metal map. I plan on calling it Canals and
Walls. The metal is only found on top of the walls and at your
main starting postion. There is also, 3 or 4 spots to get metal
on your half of the map. I made the map color gray and texture
it. It's at different levels throught the map. Its a concrete color.
Basically thats what I was trying to do. I added the canals to
seperate the map sections. You still can build in it, but it really
tight on room ...

I'm also, working on a forrest type map with mountain ranges
and stuff like that ... Only one small problem ... need to get
more memory for system ... I got 1 GB of ram ... but the bmps
are getting in the high 800mb and higher range .... I plan on
upgrading to 2 or even 4 GB ... of system ram ....

I got the horsepower ... with a AMD64 3500+ ... with a
X700 Radeon PCI-E card ... That map is going to take time
to get the textures right and look pretty ...

I'm trying to moving away from metal maps ... Think of it as
a concrete map ....

You need a much better ground/road texture...have a google around for concrete, then tile it and ad your own false bumpmap of some description...should help substantially.

I agrre with tooleh, a more varid coincret would be better, but real its the road texture that needs more work. Its a bit bland at the mo.

The grey is a bit bland. You got to find a balance between patchworks maps and uniform grey maps.
