I was around right at the end of all that, right when it started to go to a popularity contest pissing contest...FoeOfTheBee wrote:Back in the old days, when 30 players in the lobby was a record, there was a sense of community and a level of competence that we just don't have anymore. Might be nice to have an old-timer's channel for those of use that remember version .4, the old lobby, and gunships burrowing through terrain. We could lean back in our rocking chairs, play xta with the original low-poly models, and reminisce about that one time we almost beat SJ.

I dont think spring haves enough players for us to be able to harvest enough "good people" to make a comunity where its possible to play anytime of the day. Having to wait 3 hours for someone to join its not very fun :)
Beside, the "bad people" would start to be invade the "good people" zone, and I dont think we would be able to stop then.

meh just an idea.
How about a Galactic War like from the Boneyard days? When you join the war you are choose a side (arm/core). You are presented with a map of the universe that shows which sides own what planets and which are in contention. When a player chooses to play a game, the Galactic War system pairs him up depending on what planets are in contention. For example, if a crystal world was in contention but dominated mostly by arm forces, the system would pair players into a Crystal World map maybe 1 Core vs 2 Arm players or 2 Core players vs 3 Arm players, ect. It shouldn't be too hard to implement since basically, its just a fancy pairing system with a nice graphical display.
