I'm all about AF's entire set of icons. They look really, really nice.

For the icon with the cog I'd actually suggest removing the Spring logo and showing just the cog in the center, the combination will probably just be a fuzzy white area when viewed in 16x16, and also in higher resolution it looks a bit busy (not sure it's the right translation for what I mean) to me.

It is clear it belongs to Spring anyway because of the identical style.

The same applies to the icon with the wrench, though I'm not sure for what that would be needed (was it ment for settings.exe too?).

I take it the icon with the arrow is for ArchiveMover.exe only and the 'normal' Spring icon is for all file associations (sdf, sdz, sd7)?

The arrow signifies a package, and would be for the archiver tool and file asociations

The plain spring logo is for spring.exe

The icon with the logo and the gear is for settings.exe which currently hasnt got an icon.

I also think the gear icon is fine. The shape can be distinguished at 16x16, and it still looks pretty, so its recognizable. It'd be just as recognizable if it were just the cog.

Thank you AF, I have used the SideBanner, spring.ico, icon for ArchiveMover.

I can not compile settings.exe currently, so no icon for that yet.

I didn't like the TopBanner, and also I think the ArchiveMover icon is better for .sdz/.sd7 currently then the separate iconss.

Can you suggest any changes I can make to the seperate icons? Perhaps just a giant white glowing 7z or Z in place of the spring logo.

Also, despite not being able to rcompile settings.exe, you can still use the icon by installing the icon then specifying it in the NSIS installer for the shortcut

wouldn't some resource editor be able to change the settings.exe icon?

I don't think sdz and sd7 should have different icons at all, since they fulfill exactly the same role to the enduser, as it is now I think it is fine.

Like I promised, svg version and a png preview (took me exactly 20 minutes, AF go learn inkscape, it's worth it):

http://neoteric.pl/~imbaczek/spring/spring.svg - firefox will show it, but it doesn't understand blur, so don't look at it

http://neoteric.pl/~imbaczek/spring/spring.png - png export

Feel free to commit the SVG to trunk/rts/spring.svg, then I may take a look at having it installed it in the right location on Linux so spring.desktop can refer to it.

Its almost there, however, I put a red gradient in the background from the bottom right corner to the top left from a darker red to an orange red.

Also I used an orange glow on the logo, but it looks good otherwise.

I made a radial gradient instead of a linear one and made a white glow on top of the orange one. I didn't aim for 100% similarity, 95% was enough for me :) I'll tweak it and commit to svn.

imo AF's icons for spring are 100% pimp. Meh just an opinion, the look very modernish. I like that.

One of the reasons they're already in current test installers :-)
