It's when the host presses start, Spring loads normally, but in the opening screen (right after 'creating sky') my player name is in red while all the others are in green. I do get the first few messages the other players have send before my Spring is done loading. But when I'm in-game I get nothing. I can't send any messages; the only thing I can do is rotate the camera .... joy. After about 10 seconds of being 'dead in the water', Spring spontaneously exits to Windows.
When I try to replay the demo recorded from such an attempt I get the following error messages:
Code: Select all
Network error in CPreGame:
Unknown net msg in client 31
Code: Select all
Network error in CPreGame:
Unknown net msg in client 8

Please also note that this doesn't happen when I host a game, but only when I try to connect to a someone else's game. And yes, I have to correct ports forwarded on my firewall.
I'm guessing this bug has something to do with the long time Spring takes at starting up (I have a relatively slow computer, < 1Ghz) and my network buffer overflowing in the time that the host has finished loading and I'm still busy starting up.
But that's just a wild guess. Any help is greatly appreciated, because I am *really* getting tired of this ...
