Springie the AutoHost

Hollowsoul is repeatedly complaining that the autohosts abuse the battle protocol by sending masses of unnecessary updates in the traffic they send, raising the cpu usage of the lobby greatly so much so that it has interfered with the development of Unity lobby.
I am weary of testing AFLobby with autohosts for this reason because I would have to regenerate a html panel with images and player data repeatedly in a short space of time. If hollowsoul decides to add warning messages to users that the host is abusing the protocol, I'm going to have to follow suit.

In addition to a huge map list getting a ban for flooding, there's a bug with the admin list that can do it too.900ftjesus wrote:My Springie host keeps getting banned for flooding. Any settings I should set so this doesn't happen anymore? I am using version 0.99.
When it fails login or crashes, it will add another copy of the username that failed login to the admin list. Once the admin list gets huge, calling it will get the account banned for flooding.
You are welcome to fix any bugs you find AF.
Devlog with things that are on to-do list is here
https://taspring.clan-sy.com/svn/spring ... devlog.txt
However I dont have time for this for several next weeks.

Bit of a problem here:
I am trying to host on a DL140 Proliant (G1), but apparently springie actually needs to run ingame as well.
The problem is the server uses a very basic integrated video (RAGE XL). Upon trying to start a game, it reports that it needs GL_ARB_texture_env_combine. Is there a way around this?

Is that 1U? I'm trying to look around on HP's site and find the specs, but you may be able to use a half height / slim PCI graphics card if that thing has a PCI slot on a riser. There's several options in the ~$50 price range on Newegg.Anticept wrote:Bit of a problem here:

Oddly enough I seem to remember a while back some crazy guy submitted a patch to get Spring to work on a Rage3D or Rage Pro or some other old ATI card. He had some long story, and he was using a Rage ??? with a taped on old Pentium 1 era heatsink or something else crazy like that and he wanted Spring to work on it.
