Burners that can be set to 1x or 2x

Post by Caydr »

For certain applications it's best to burn a disc at 1x or 2x speed. For some reason though, I can't find a burner that'll go that slow anymore. Does anyone here have one that does? If so please tell me where you got it and what it's called. It should preferably be a DVD burner but able to burn both CD and DVD at 1x speed.

Is it actually the burner or just the software?

huh?

No Application should have that issue. Infact I'm not sure 1x DVD burners ever existed. 2x and 4x perhaps when they were first introduced....

Afterall, who would spend 2 hours burning 2 hours of video?

If I were a hardware company developing DVD and CD burners and I was told by my research division they'd gotten a reliable 1x or 2x working burner, I'd tell them to go back to work and not bother me till theyd reached at least 4x.

Never better than the console. Never.

Well, except for these terrible machines; Xbox, PS2, Atari 7800, Virtual Boy & Sega 32x.

My optical drive apparently gives options only for 8x and 24x burning. Toast 5.2 gives me the option of 1x but then goes ahead and burns it at 8x :? So my guess is that your best option is to look for a used drive that someone is selling or giving away on some online thing like craigslist. Oh well.
