Does GBA have **ANY** good games?

Post by Caydr »

Slight exaggeration, it has:

3 Castlevanias
2 Metroids
2 Advance Wars
2 Fire Emblem
And at least one Final Fantasy, if you're into that kind of thing. I'm not... not really... I play it to pass the time, but don't get much enjoyment out of it.

Anyways, besides these, are there ANY good GBA games? I've recently started looking into the system since I don't really get much use out of the second slot on my DS... there's a huge library, but it seems to be mostly mediocre, expecially compared with the DS's library. There are like 40 good or excellent DS games...

Well, I would suggest Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age.

Car Battler Joe (not kidding), Lufia - Ruins of Lore, Tales of Phantasia - although the SNES game is superior, FF Tactics Adv., FF4 Adv., Sword of Mana, Zoids Saga, Summon Night - Swordcraft Story 2, Shining Soul, Shining Force, Tactics Ogre - Knight of Lodis, Golden Sun 1+2 (not that good IMO), Lunar Legend aaaand *take breath* POKEMON... no forget that. Can't think of more right now - there are atleast another dozen of good games. Not counting the ones which never hit the shores.

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (Not played it, but it has great reviews)
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories
Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis (One of the best and my personal favourite on the GBA; you might have trouble finding this though due to very poor supplies)
Goldensun 1&2

*pulls out a mace and starts swinging wildly*

You unbelievers must be punished for your lack of Ninja Five-O/Ninja Cop in those lists!

Also Mario vs. Donkey Kong is nice. Not as good as Donkey Kong for the SGB but still nice.

Kururin is win. I got Kurukuru Kururin for 10€ from a clearance pile and bought Kururin Paradise and Kururin Squash because of it. Nothing says awesome like maneuvering a rotating stick through a 2d maze without touching the walls.

Klonoa is pretty nice, it's 20€ on the pyramid. It's no Donkey Kong but it's still a decent puzzle jump and run.

Boktai is a pretty good game but impossible to play because you need sunlight. Good luck finding a place where direct sunlight can hit your GBA but won't burn your skin. I know Kojima wanted to get the kids outside but giving them severe sunburns isn't the right way to go about that.

I hate Golden Sun because the first game ends about 1/3rd into the story. You get on a ship to sail to the next part of your quest and suddently the credits roll. WTF? I first thought that was a joke.

Rattle, where the hell did you get Summon Night from?

Pokemon is good. Really, really good. that's like 5 games right there.

Pretty much every Mario game for DS (Paper Mario included) is good.

ah yes... you want the finest games available for the ds? there is only one thing for it - go to japan and buy any game in japanese. any other game is clearly inferior.

Hmm. I was going to list all the good/excellent GBA games until I realized there were about 70 of them and my post would just be way too long. You'll have to be more specific than "I'm looking for games".

You can however just buy Kuru Kuru Kururin, Kururin Paradise and Puzzle League. They'll make you forget about all your other portable games.

Why would he bother spending money on booze? With all this flooding he could easily steal a ship, pretend he's a pirate and go hunt for loot.

The GBA runs all previous GB games so the original GB Tetris would work and many consider it superior to the newer Tetrises because of bad rule additions by the official Tetris rule authority. Though the GBA has Pokemon Puzzle League aka Tetris Attack which I hear many people liked.

Oh, wait, that means I can actually recommend Donkey Kong. That game is effing awesome.

He's looking for GBA games to play on his DS. The DS does not run GB games.
