I have downloaded TAS ( Total Annihliation Spring) and got it working no problem. Now I was surfing around on fileuniverse and found out about a mo call absolute annihilation. Current version 5.4. After reading about it I decided to try it. I downloanded it and have not been able to get it to work under TAS. Even though the mod is supposed to work under TAS. The mod works when you don't start TA using TAS. So what is the ultra easy noobie step I am to stupid to see I am over looking.
Well, I'm going to get flamed for this, but I'll say it anyway: AA sucks ass.
That said, they haven't ported 5.4 over to Spring properly, afaik. I think you have to use 5.0 or 5.2, whichever it was. Check the Mods section under "TA Spring" at FileUniverse.
(and if you guys have ported 5.4 over, prod me or storm and we'll get it mirrored)
*Flames Gnome into oblivion*
Come on, you have to think its better than XTA at least?
And only 5.0 was ported to Spring. It takes time, that Caydr instead uses for updating and improving the TA version. There was also the issue of the change of the special damage system to an armor type system that makes porting AA more difficult. Figuring out how to make the armor system work is something he decided to put off for later. I suspect he'll pick up Spring porting again when the engine is in a more evolved state.
AA=<OTA>xta :)
a stable version of AA would be quite cool
samsons are only useful as AA in spring as they cannot fir over each other! :D a mixture of flashes/stumpies and rockos/hammers works best in OTA :) mmm kbots... with late expansion to con airs/adv con airs (although experiments on painted desert show early expansion is possible
AA is great for normal old schoool Total Annihilation.
However, when transcribed into the realm of Spring, something doesn't feel right. The balance is very screwy, everything dies too fast and some things take too long to build, seems to me the weapon damages are a little nuts as well. Of course, XTA has become quite normal to me now, so I could just be bias.
AA is a mish mash of a mod which proclaims itself to be a balance mod when it's really a tweaked unitpack mod where alot of proper work is lacking. The so called balance only ruins the part of TA that made it TA. Unless units are horribly overkill of just useless let them be because in TA, it's up to the player to figure out the tactic and not all units have to be used in every game. This isn't Starcrap. I'd take any other unit mods any day.
