Since I've started actually playing normal games of this, I haven't ONCE so zoomed in close enough to see any detail at all... hell, I've barely zoomed in close enough that their actual model shows up as opposed to the icon.

Priorities, priorities; textures on a little dude that won't be seen 99% of the time are not very important.

But compared to the German infantry, it isn't as good. I totally understand your reasoning behind not wanting to move on with it, but for about an extra half an hour to an hours work or so on the texture and you'll massively improve the quality of infantry for a relatively minor expenditure of energy. And, that hour's work is repeated on all the british infantry, meaning multiple units receive that hour's worth of work, and they are all units which are seen in droves in every game.

I know that in most games I won't zoom in close and enjoy the battle while things still hang in the balance, but once I've either definitely won, or definitely lost, I'll definitely swing in closer for a good look. I won't mention promo pics outright, because designing a game around promo images is just a bad idea; but it's certainly always nice to have nice units to show off (not that 1944 is lacking in the gorgeous unit department).

Hey!

I found a cd I have with a LOT of german accented acknowledgments, moving outs, etc. At least 25 you could use for selection, moving out, and attacking. Would you guys wanna take a look at em? It's only 1 MB total.

:P

Edit: 34 total :-)

Edit: http://www.savefile.com/files/898446 Here, have at em.

We're hoping to find a German speaker for some voice acting. Doing the German voices in English with a German accent kinda feels like a cop-out.

Thanks for thinking of the project though.

Now, are there any defector/espionage units to be added in the future? Campaign heroes who would do well to have such voices?

That's understandable, not a problem for me.

Like I said, it was only 1mb, and I compressed it for uploading ease and its 750kb now. The DL gets deleted if it isn't downloaded after 7 days, so if you ever need 'em again, just let me know. :-)

Imho, what would be cooler would be to just have the acks be in German, rather than just accented. After all, this isn't an adventure game - you don't need to know exactly what the unit said - and I think we all know what they mean when they say "Javohl mein fuhrer!"

You are correct, but for the wrong reason.

The real reason that we want unit acknowledgements in German is that German just sounds so much cooler.
