First Person Video
I had some people asking for a first person video so I made one.
It's a 1v1 ladder game I played yesterday against DayWalker on Geyser Plains, video quality is OK and sorry if you dont like the music in the background, I didn't know that it would get recorded.
If people like it I might make more.
Hope you enjoy~

Upload to http://www.geevee.com. File size limit is 100mb but you can download an "avi splitter" to split into two or more seperate parts. The one i use is called "accusplit".
Quality on geevee is preserved very well so you dont get shoddy google video/youtube quality.

Ok just watched the video. Thx for making this andy it's something I've been interested in seeing for a while.
First off, nice game. Good use of reclaim with cons which undoubtedly kept you in the game at start and assisted an advantage in units mid game onwards. Looked like you were getting beat pretty bad at the start but made a nice comeback.
I found your command rate and mouse clicks/min extremely surprising though. From watching the video it seemed like you infact made macro orders with comm/cons considerably slower than I do (I use binds which are inherently faster than using menus). You spent longer giving cons orders than I tend to by a considerable margin yet still managed 60 cmd/min which is something i basically never achieve, so i'm pretty staggered as to where this comes from? Makes me wonder what spring actually considers as a command and if it is buggy and the system records differently for different hardware used.
I expected to see very fast micro of several units at the same time, including jeffy raids and co-ordinated flash attacks on separate parts of the map at same time to account for the high command/click rate you have pretty much every game, so i was surprised to see so many ctrl+z's and speed of commands which APPEARED largely similar to myself, despite me having a far lower click/command rate. The only place I can see the extra click/command rate coming from is repeated spam commands on unit move orders, although I couldn't tell how many times you were clicking for each order given.
Besides that, I'd really like to see some more of these "first person" videos on a few other maps. Particularly on maps like Brazillian Battlefield where there is a pretty diverse range of approaches to expansion, territory control, unit combinations and raids between players.
Once my new mouse arrives perhaps I will try to make some of my own vids of 1v1 games to showcase how I play with key binds and my general approach to macro and micro control.
Certainly some things I can learn from from this video anyway. One I noticed repeatedly throughout the game was your coordination of con units moving through the map with flash support, which gave you opportunity to quickly take advantage of reclaim and lay down some statics after making raids on enemy expansion. GG.

If I recall, if the game is played at a different speed, such as in a replay, it can vary the number of commands per minute. Haven't really delved into it.
Pretty much what I got out of this is the missing component of my play; fast use of gut instinct. There isn't anything fundamentally different from what I do, except that where I evaluate every action, within certain parameters you seem to streamline activity and do some haphazard things. The processing time costs me more than I expected.

Demo, part of why he was a little slower than usual is because when you record while playing it lowers your FPS, which in turn makes you miss menus and miss selecting stuff =) which you saw alot in that game,
also geyser isnt exactly a map where you have to be very fast to stay in the game, if you wanna see something like that ask him to FPS a cometcatcher or espire =))

I think if u have to give more orders than Randy it's because you're less tactical than him ...DemO wrote:I found your command rate and mouse clicks/min extremely surprising though. He had take a bad begin i think, DayWalker was able to win at a time but Randy found a very great pass to go to kill DayWalker base and dont try to pass at the middle of the map (like 95% make all the time ) ...
It's what we seen lot of time when we are spec : we all want to kill ennemy defense even if it is possible to circumvent these to attack base ...
Very great Randy : u made a really really good job ... next time try to post your video with opponent video in same time ...
Thanks a lot for this flash strategy

PS : how to put 100 units in order queue ? I only know to put 5 units with schift button ???
