E3
So everyone's favourite international holiday begins on Wednesday with a new set-up, but still with all the big names. What are you looking forward to this E3?
For me:
Console Price Cuts
Super Smash Brothers: Brawl (Wii)
Assassins Creed (Xbox 360/PS3/PC)
BioShock (Xbox 360/PC)
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Wii)
Starcraft II (PC)
and
The Elder Scrolls: Fall... errr... I mean Fallout 3
Plus there is always that random game or thing that blows you away.

I'm waiting to see what's on Capcom's table, Square's table, and Polyphony dig's table. I'm hoping someone is finally going to make the useless PS3 a console worth buying.
I got to play some Wii the other night... God, paper mario for the Wii could not have been a more disappointing title. It's been dumbed down to the point of retardation.
Other than that I quite like Relative's list. However, as far as specific games go, I'm really looking forward to seeing what spore is currently looking like, and I want more news on the newest GTA as well.

Well the first thing on my list was granted as a pre-E3 announcement, console price cuts. PS3 got a $100 price cut, but sadly for them that still isn't enough to justify buying it for me. At the moment the xbox360 has a far more interesting game library and extra content including a superior online service. So I'm hoping for a Xbox360 cut in reaction to Sony.

I haven't tried the new Paper Mario yet, and as a fan of the series I hope that was just the first few levels
I just got Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition as I never got the Game Cube or PS2 version. Damn it's a fantastic game, and the Wii controls are great on it.

I'm a huge fan too, and trust me, it's just really bad.Relative wrote: I haven't tried the new Paper Mario yet, and as a fan of the series I hope that was just the first few levels
Every knew character is made entirely out of simple geometric shapes. The gameplay no longer uses most RPG elements (no turnbased combat, no equipment, no magicz) which could have possibly worked, but just ends up dumbing the game down a massive amount. The 3D/2D switching is just incredibly gimmicky, and mostly quite frustrating to use because of a little meter that sits on the top left of the screen that is supposed to force you to go back into 2D after a certain period of time, that takes FOREVER to recharge in 2D mode, meaning you either get bored of waiting for it to recharge, or you accept the 1 HP damage penalty for allowing it to go over just so it DOES recharge. Not to mention most secret hunting in the game basically comes down to "go into 3D, instantly see secret arbitrarily put somewhere that will take more time then the time meter gives you to exploit either way".
You could probably choke through it all, the story seems tolerable, if a bit long winded, although as RPG arcs go I really hate the particular arc they chose for the PM3 story line "The prophicied hero needs to save the world from the prophicied evil empire" It always kind of makes me feel "oh, I guess I should be watching the movie rather than playing the game then..."
I don't think so but they don't seem to be willing to stick it out with Sony, either. Too many people seem to mistake the exclusivity Sony had with the PS2's userbase for loyality but e.g. Square has already announced that they will go multiplatform this gen (and put Dragon Quest on the DS).neddiedrow wrote:Square and Capcom save Sony?
