You need buckets in order for dwarfs to bring injured dwarfs food/water.
To take the thread off topic... how the hell did you manage to get a mason and a fisherman injured? Masons basically don't to anything dangerous ever, and fishermen's biggest risk is cave river floods, which either kill or don't kill, no injuries...

You could always use the show all utility; you should easily find ores if you're digging alot. dont always concentrate on length, concentrate on width too and plan out natural supports.
