For the logo just crop the top and bottom towards the middle logo and it should look fine.AF wrote:Screenshot stuff:

I want to make the top shorter too as soon as I figure out howto do it without making the logo squashed.

I absolutely destroyed the spelling the first run at the word, and that's what Firefox spell checker fixed it tooBoirunner wrote:Wow. Are you aware that the newest Firefox version has an integrated spellchecker? It might save you quite some time.

My spelling is horrible, my brain just doesn't work that way. On IRC I strike fear into the hearts of English teachers the world around because of the lack of spellcheck

I agree, it's generic, but it's not ugly at least.
The current page is decent, but it's really buggy. Things like large images ripping apart the spacing and what not. And it also really doesn't have very good forum/wiki integration.
Things like the Faq, Team members, Screenshots, and Downloads pages could all be controlled through a wiki interface and they would be much much easier to keep updated and relevant.

Ancient? no... this is fine, i like it more than those 2 new layouts which AF and that other dude is making.hunterw wrote:also its ancient and outdated
Correct, updating is needed, but layout is fine.hunterw wrote:it really needs some updating. look at screenshots page ffs
Screenshots page is outdated, yes, but not the layout, we could make screenshots page look nice, but nobody cares to do it.
Layout is fine, just needs some fixing like scalability.

I disagree with tims method.
And shame on you for discouraging people from contributing.
I have a nice site with a well optimized forum, wiki, faqs, articles, news, profiles, galleries, the easy option for community involvement, better bot spam protction for the forums wiki and site, better controls, and a very very long shelflife.
So why should I ditch that in favour of a single html page with a chunk of custom php and javascript which numerous people say looks ugly? Especially when most of the issues with the design I curently have are extremely fixable.

ok. After seeing Tim's Site, and reading all the posts, I..
well, anyway. Tim's Site advertises better, and this site seems to organize stuff better.
AF's site is better for usability, but if we're moving to advertise, then Tim's would do a better job of pulling people in. Is there some way that Tim's could be the front page and AF's could organize the info or something?
Kinda a longshot, but thought I'd throw it out there.
The other thing I noticed, is this site would work better with a wiki then the current site. I honestly haven't touched the wiki on the current site because it scares me. It doesn't resemble any other wiki I've seen (layout etc) and with AF's site we can return to the normal layout of searchbar on the side, main page, recent updates, etc.

You even managed to come up with a worse look for the current spring website! Congradulations!AF wrote:For those who feel that the spring website looks fine as it is heres a taster of the nostalgia tempalte with oen or two modifications:
The top menu options need finishing and the side menu is optional, other than that the black line on the edges of the central blue body is the only thing missing
Omg looks like advert site who stole my domain. Cant you just make those your menus any different/smallerAF wrote:For those who feel that the spring website looks fine as it is heres a taster of the nostalgia tempalte with oen or two modifications:

Why did you remove those nice image links at the top, they are cool, put them back. We dont really need that left menu at all... maybe some news can be put there... idk.
