AAI and nuke silos

Post by CaptainMaim »

Can AAI be trained or allowed to use nukes and or anti-nukes? (And possibly LRPC's.)

Cause I just pitted a well trained defensive AAI ARM vs and ARM and CORE RAI. The AAI weathered 3 Krogoths and 15 hundred of lesser units. The only reason it was defeated was because it had no anti-nukes and it was easily nuked into submission by RAI. I was wondering if AAI can be trained to use nukes? Mod was XTA. AAI is the one that comes with Spring's latest version.

I even saw it build defenses in a parameter, a perfect forward box of guns around it's base with a little space between guns and base. Is AAI trained to build in patterns? If so, it's the first AI I've *EVER* seen that can do that.

And it's also the first time I ever saw it do that as well.

I don't think AAI can use nukes but it can definitely use LRPC's. I'd just check that the config you are using hasn't had them turned off.

There are two setting with concern plasma cannons from memory, one is the range a cannon has to have to be considered a LRPC and the second is the number of cannons it should build.

The standard configs that come with AAI tend to make it a bit defensive IMO but it can easily be tweaked to be alot more agressive.

how can I tweak it to be more aggressive?

Since it's a self-learning thing, I'd guess... nuke rush it? Teach it the effectiveness of getting bertha'd? Or is it that smart?

i did this config ages ago based on Ivory Kings suggestions, if you look at some of the values it'll help you figure out how to make it more agressive. You can adjust base sizes and how far away it will go to get metal.

NTai is worth playing with it can nuke and is much more configurable, I've got a config for arm on balanced annihilation that plays quite well. Let me know if you want a copy.

AFAIK AAI won't learn anything about LRPCs or nukes. It just builds a set number of them (defined in mod config file), and if there are more than one type of such things available, it seems to always make the cheapest ones. It cannot use launchers that have to be manually ordered to build missiles either.

My understanding is that anything that anything that has a range greater than the value set in the config file STATIONARY_ARTY_RANGE will be considered a LRPC. If a bertha falls below this range then it will be built according to AAI's learning if the bertha comes above this value then AAI will build bertha's up to the value of MAX_STAT_ARTY.

LRPC's also seem to ignore the value of MAX_METAL_COST.
