Not a feature request, but a bug AFAIK. You cannot control the length of a standard (non-beam) laser through the beamtime tag. Or maybe I'm forgetting what tag should be used... but I really thought it was beamtime.
Should be, "beamtime=0.1" means "the beam will stop getting longer after 0.1 seconds". Note that it is also affected by the laser's shot velocity.
So AFAIK, an individual laser shot should be as long as it is when 0.1 seconds (or whatever beamtime) has elapsed given how fast the cutting edge of the laser is growing, in other words, its barrel velocity.
But that doesn't work. Currently the only thing that affects a laser's length is the barrel velocity.
