CrushStrength
Inside taenheter.ccx /gamedata/moveinfo.tdf all movement classes have a CrushStrength tag. I found out that without that, units can't trample tree any more. Questions:
- What else does CrushStrength control?
- How is the value used? What's the formula used? Any threshold in CrushStrength that cause changes?
- Is it ok to not have any CrushStrength value? If so what is used?
- Can the CrushStrength be specified inside the /units/*.fbi instead of the /gamedata/moveinfo.tdf ? And if they are in both, which one is used?
- Do you have any list of all the new tags spring support?

All features has a mass value if crushstrength is larger than a features mass than the feature can be crushed. Trees has a mass of 20 while other features get their mass according to the formula
fd->mass=fd->metal*0.4+fd->maxHealth*0.1;
when we creat our own formats the mass or whatever we will call it then will be possible to assign explicitly.
Only features can be crushed currently although it should be possible to extend to units in the future.

Tanks crushing trees?Doomweaver wrote:GrOuNd_ZeRo, isn't that a bit unrealistic?
That isn't unrealistic at all, like one of my officers said during my military service here in sweden (armor regiment): 'If there aren't any paths in the forest where you need to go, you make your own paths'
(Quite fun to see the tanks creating a path throu the trees in real life) And everyone, even the officers like running down trees (even those who said we shuldnt do it)
(Swedish military service varies from 7,5-15 months)

my friend was a tank driver during his service. he was backing up to a forest, he was being guided from outside. u really can't see much from the drivers seat in a tank. so suddenly he was told to stop. when he got up from the tank he saw that he had just driven over a tree. the engine was so powerful that he didn't even see a change in rpms when he crushed the tree

the tank he drove was t-72
the only part of the tank that can get damaged while crushing trees is the barrel and turret rotating gear.
depends on tank, mainly battletanks can do this
assault tanks... well i don't know, depends on the tank and on the tree
btw assault tanks in XTA are totally crap... they should be faster and have a bit more firepower.. or jeffys and weasels should be weaker
real assault tanks are a bit weak, quite fast (60-100 km/h) and have rather powerful weapons, when used with infantry spotting targets and a bit tactic and luck they can take out even battletanks.

I always was rather puzzled by the term: Assault Tank or Combat Tank.
the Stumpy acts more like a MBT with a very weak gun while the Bulldog is too slow to be considdered a MBT.
I think the best way to change this is to give the Stumpy the Bulldog gun and upgrade the Bulldog's weapons to something even more powerful, but that's just me, and why don't tanks have a EMG gun on the turret for taking out light targets?
