Spring Mascot

Post by SinbadEV »

Okay... I'm Pretty sure this has be discussed before... But I think this might be useful.

I think we should come up with a few units, specific to spring... possibly elected from the ranks of a current mod... give em the high poly/high quality texture treatment... and then use them as "flash" or "pazaz" for the site and promotion material... or do you think this detracts from the overall concept of Spring?

Good idea, but of course not a Cavedog one, high poly or not, because the lack of originality & copyrights.
Maybe the Nanoblobs Megasheep :?:

I still say the high poly Arm Commander would be a great mascot.

One of the Gundam Epic comms would be excellent too.

Spring is an engine and does not have any content at all. If you want a mascot, don't bound it to any mod.

Personally, I don't see the reason. you can have a brilliant logo as recognition element. that doesn't need to be a unit or so O.o

Well said, therefore it should be a lightly dressed anime girl.

Well I say we go for an animal that is in no way associated with the engine, fictional or non-fictional. Linux has Tux, BSD has that little devil, GNU has a... gnu, and firefox has a fox. It makes perfect sense.

well a devil is no animal, but I agree with Relative: animals are good :) though I think maybe something more techincal is in order.

A porcupine, obviously. Works both with the gameplay jokes, and his back can have a vague resemblance to the spring logo.

I'm imagining a hunchbacked porcupine with a bazooka.

obviously the only viable choice for mascot would be a cabbage.

I've got some concepts, but I think a logo should come first.

My thoughts, this time expressed with pictures:

combine

with

and

to make a cute, cartoony porcupine critter that bares a vague resemblence to the Spring logo itself.

Can't come up with a good name for him though - so far all I got is "D. Fence".

Ok, here is my idea.

Edit: For a name, why not call it "Porky"?

The concepts are for a mascot. The logo may be more basic than that.
