Brainstorming about Maps
Where didn`t we have Maps ? Where would it be completely impossible to have a SpringMap ? What could bring us into great Trouble to have a Map about ?

I'd like if maps where created with thought like ie SC (or WC3 too I think) maps.
If you look a map-topic the comments are all like:
"oooh nice! pure sex."
"oooh can units cross that river?"
"oooh big download"
"oooh needs more metal" is often the most precious feedback to balance.
And it doesnt even say where the metal should be.
(yes, I know sometimes its different ie with deltasiege with the different metallayouts and stuff.)
But If yet to see discussions like http://www.panschk.de/mappage/comments.php?mapid=10
No wonder mods make "random changes" all the time if the maps are just greatly "how it feels right" and not with the game in mind.

I think the limits are quite clear.
city maps dont work. space maps look strange.
map ideas:
islands seperated not by water but something else thats not crossable, like lava. You would have to airdrop the other islands. This kind of map would probally suck with mods that have longrangecannons.
some team-map that encourages using startpositions spread randomly around the map instead of the usual boxes would be cool too. you would have to use different tactics if the enemy is far away or you are starting next to 3 enemys. Escpicially if you dont know beforehand where the enemys are. Players would have to help each other.

what is currently needed is a map of decent size which consists of large islands, with smaller islands, shallows and landbridges so units can get everywhere, while having rocks for air and plenty of wide beaches for sea bombardment and anphibs. also symmetrical.
every map like this currently is either made with a single tiny chokepoint or ugly textures... it should look like tropical or tangerine, but not play anything like them (I SPAEM INTO CHHOKEPINNT)
