Nublet unit creation question

If I am going to make a unit - say, a tank - do I model each part of the unit (turret, main gun, body, etc) as separate files and combine them together in 3DO builder, or am I going to somehow have my entire tank as one big file and define what the turret, gun, etc. are?

A bit of both: Model the whole tank in pieces, and export each of the different chunks (body, turret, barrel, etc) to individual files. Then import to 3do builder and yada yada.

Model and export each pieces individually. And make sure to use only quad, not triangles.
