Mapmirror

Post by PicassoCT »

How about a Mapmirror-option in the Battlescreen, that allows to make out of e.g. a small 8x8 Map a 16x16 and that way we could save Bandwith, have small sized goodMaps also on the BigStage and i think symetry means Balance.. so as long as you can controll how often the Map is mirrored...

You mean repeatedly tiling a very small map in order to create a large one?

If I take metalheck, 300kb, and make it 4 times bigger by tiling it, I add perhaps 40kb on the end? I'm not adding extra tiles to the number of texture tiles there is, I'm just increasing the size of the heightmap with 3 duplicates, which the comrpession program is going to love.

SecurE did that, for his River Dale, Hill Haven, Sparewood, Cliff Run combo.

Then Betalord added a feature in his lobby, that consisted of removing the support of several map in one archive. :?

Actually, it was 2 things:

Unitsync broke but because everyone blamed betalord and didnt know better we were told to change system.

Map grades use archive hashes so if 2 maps share the same archive then the map grades system gets borked because 1 maps grade is the same as another and theyre no longer reliable.
