Sync Errors in long game vs AI

Okay so Nimue and I are playing last night, we're on LAN because they have a laptop which they've taken to my room.

We're playing a 2v2 Moon Quartet remake against two QAIs.

Game goes fine for a while (first hour maybe) then Nimue starts getting constant sync errors. Game isn't crashing so we think nothing of it and keep playing.

However, what is on Nimue's screen is different from what is on mine so we figure that they're out of sync so they quit, give their stuff to me and I try to finish the game (which eventually crashes).

Anyway, I thought it was all fine and dandy 'till I watched the replay. The last half an hour or so of the game, my base is just sitting there, doing nothing. None of the units I built existed, noones moving where I remember moving them, my legion of mechs isn't decimating the AI's bases. Its just like noone is controlling anything anymore.

Why does this happen? Our connections work fine and we're on the same net.

My computer was pretty slowed up toward the end (very), but it hasn't screamed sync error that much before.

How do we make sure it doesn't happen?

its a known problem that the devs are still trying to fix.
