Features...

Post by SpikedHelmet »

I'm having trouble getting my features to show up in-game. It's odd, because I've gotten it to work months ago, and I remember running into this problem, but I don't remember what I did...

Essentially, they don't show up when the map loads ingame. No errors or anything. I *know* I've got everything in place...

I've got the fs.txt with the features in a list (there's only one feature anyway)... I'm using red 255 in the featuremap (and trees/grass show up fine)... it's an S3O model, I've double-checked that all the names are right, that the texture is included, that the s3o is included. I've got the features\All Worlds folders, unittextures, objects3d... wtf am I missing?

I apparently got it to work by putting the feature files in my mod files...

Which makes no sense. I certainly don't have Lathan's industrial complex features in my mod file, but they show up fine on his maps... why?

spikedhelmet, unlike TA maps spring does not have a large feature file(THANK GOD) so what features the map uses are packaged within the map it's self

Excactly what smoth and zwzsg said. Open up a map with custom features and take a look at the file structure and you'll get a pretty good idea of what to do.

That's a unitsync issue, though aflobby could probably avoid it by running unitsync in another thread.

Oh, yeah, i fixed the problem about 30 seconds after making the second post. I was putting my features/objects3d/etc folders inside the map folder, as opposed to "outside" of it.

Sorry for the bother. I probably should've come back to say I got it fixed...
